Glock magazines

Does anyone Here use the Glock magpul magazines ? If so , how do you like them? Pros and cons ? Would you recommend them or stay with the oem mags?

I have 3 of their 17 mags and they work alright. They are a pain in the ass to load, I'd only ever use them for range use.. and spend the extra what like $4 on OEM mags for carry

I’ve used them at the range numerous times without issue. Having said that, I only carry the OEM mags. Just makes me feel better. It’s all about my feelings after all.

Like any magazine, the spring is rather stiff until a few load/unload cycles go though. I have no issues loading mine at all.

I’m asking because I drew my son in laws name for Christmas this year. He carries a Glock 19 mid size. Are the Glock 19 mags all the same size? I have no idea what Gen. it is.

Gen won't matter and his gun will hold both the 19 mag and the 17 mag

Should . Meh not necessary by any means

This is when knowing what gen it is will help

Gen 3 glocks can make an easy swap from the plastic guide rod to a SS one (the nice thing about that is the ability to swap out springs either to tune the gun or just planned maintenance)

The Gen 4 changed to a duel recoil spring system and so the only way to go to a SS guide rod is to get a Gen 3 guide rod and a Gen 3 to Gen 4 adapter (they are inexpensive and easy to install)

The good thing with doing this is like mentioned above playing with recoil spring weights or more importantly planned maintenance and changing out the recoil spring

Yes the side of the slide will say gen 4 if its a 4

G19 Gen 4

Gen 3 will just say

G19

Totally unnecessary. The only thing the guide rod does is to keep the recoil spring from kinking, it offers no support to the slide. The slide is supported by the guide rails in the frame.
