My “good 556/223 barrels” i buy for between $325-$400. These shoot far better than i am able. I get 1/2 inch groups at 100. (Measured from the farthest points. I dont bother subtracting .223).
The best barrels (Barrel alone) will go up to $500-600 like a krieger, or LW50
One can find precut deals with matching bolt for that chamber.
I guess it depends of what type of match you have in mind because NM is not the ideal sight post nor handguards but it is mandatory for that competition
while a simple match/varmint barrel is heavier but gains a lot from a good handgard ideally a monolitic setup or binded.
One can buy and matched bolt and Young NM group, grab a decent receiver and a utg pro rail and will save some money vs.
buying something similar from white oak or Whitley.
This also gives an opportunity to grab a tight receiver and lap it as well as bind the receiver and floating handguard that is
the weakest point of any AR.
Another option is to get a 20" medium profile 3R barrel and 5/8 threads that make amazing melonited barrels with strong
matched bolts.
White oak are good uppers.
RRA and the word match should not go together in the same sentence. They are light years behind a real match setup. Their NM triggers however, while budget priced, they are amazing.
