Maybe if jail was actually a punishment then there would be fewer people in jail.
Had a guy at work that got a DWI. He had to do 2 weeks in county. He said during the day the cells were left open and they could wander around. They also had use of a TV .

All jails in the State, all of them, are having a serious shortage of personal.
Not enough people want these jobs anymore.
The amount of overtime being forced upon these employees is staggering.
Corrections Officers, Deputy's and jail guards are being forced to work 72-80 hours per week. People are leaving these jobs in mass.

That’s a shame. The jails are a shitty job anyway. I couldn’t do it.
So maybe if they kept them locked in their cells for 22 hours a day they wouldn't need as many guards. Let them out for three 30 minute meals and 30 minutes of exercise each day. Throw in a couple showers each week. It's jail. They're there for a reason. Stop giving them luxuries
