A couple friends and i go every 2 or 3 years. Its a 6+ hour drive for us, but its a great show. You see all kinds of new stuff that you never dreamed of. Lots of free samples, stickers, and such. There's one full hall of nothing but guns and reloading, a hall for fishing and boats, one for hunting with calls, decoys, and stuff like that, one giant hall full of outfitters- ANYTHING in the world you would want to hunt or fish for has an outfitter ( or twenty ) represented. There's furniture, knives, clothing campers, archery, and........ OK, You get the picture. Yeah, i recommend it. Take a trip. Wear comfortable shoes.
Not too sure about other stuff in the area. I know there's a Basspro near the farm center, but that would be like walking into a 7-11 after the show. If you're spending the night, BOOK YOUR HOTEL NOW if you can still find one. A small backpack isn't a bad idea either, you might buy fishing lures or socks or high capacity magazines which you will destroy before returning to NY. or something else like that.
it's been 10 years since I was in that area but there was a Cabela's just a bit north of Hershey Park..
I'll be there tomorrow, hopefully its worth the 4hr drive.
how was your trip?
Bought tickets for Sat and Sun. Took the shuttle to the show, and man was it packed. We stayed at Staybridge Suites, and decided not to go back on Sunday, due to the over crowding. Ended up going to Philly to check out the museum and grab some Philly cheese steaks for the ride home. Maybe it would have been better during the week, but I would do it again. The one thing that I could not get used to, was the NON muzzle awareness. I know that all the guns were made inoperable, but it just felt weird to have guns pointed at your head...lol
