I like the Lee Auto Prime hand held tool for priming.
I have one set up for small pistol, one set up for large pistol.

I want to get two more set up one for small rifle and one large rifle.

That way I'm not putting primers back in to the boxes when switching from pistol to rifle.
I was checking out E-Bay for Lee Hand Primers and seen the Lee Auto Bench Prime tool.
And one using one of these?

I like the Lee Auto Prime tools better then Hornady,s and RCBS.

New version of Lee hand-priming tool is no good. No one who used the old version likes it. I read good things about new Lee bench primer. I would go with that.

I bit the bullet and bought a Forster bench prime tool. No more looking for the right shell holders, simple change over from large to small primers, and really consistent seating.

I'm looking to buy a 223 rifle as my next gun. I want some thing my six year old grandson can shoot. I pick up brass out where we go shooting and have a whole bunch of 223 brass. I started depriming the 223 brass last night, I'll work at it today and later tonight.
The last time we went shooting we picked up twenty-two pounds of brass.
Mostly 223 and 9mm, a hundred or so of 40 caliber, about twenty 38 special, some 45 Colt, two 10mm and about 50 5
45ACP.

I'm thinking maybe a Remington 700, a Ruger 77, Remington 788 I found one they want $475-I'd like to get it for $450.
Maybe a single-shot H&R or a NEF. I'll look a little longer then buy one.

I would start him out with air rifle or 22lr. Basics of marksmanship are better learned without recoil. That's true even for adults, but much more so for kids. The slower you go with this the further you will get.

I have been taking him out for over a year now, he can shoot better then most adults I shoot with. When the weather is nice we go shooting every weekend, winter here is our rain season. If it's not raining it will be until late spring then it's like someone turned the switch and it will turn to summer weather.

He started out with the traditional Red Ryder BB gun, then on to a .177 caliber Gamo WildCat pellet gun.
Then up in the Cascade Mountains with a 22lr single-shot Mossberg bolt-action. He can shoot and accurately, I'd put him up dollar for dollar with most adults.

He shoots my Marlin 17HMR, Ruger 22 magnum rifle and revolver. He can totally shoot my two Ruger Mark2s all by himself. Take the mag out, fill it incert it, do the slide and shoot it all on his own and do a good job of hitting his target, the take the mag out reload it and start out shooting again.

Last time out shooting he shot my 327 Federal Magnum Ruger GP100 with 32 Shorts and 32 Longs, he was hitting coke cans full of water with it, one hit in three or four shots.
I just loaded up a hundred 32 Long bullets for him to shoot. I haven't let him shoot any thing that will make him shy of shooting. I did let him shoot a couple of 410 shotguns and an old Iver Johnson single-shot 12 gauge with the mini 7 1/2 shot Agulia shells.

Nothing to big until he is big enough to shoot to handle the size of cartridge or shell.

He has shot my Ruger 77/357 magnum, the rifle goes in a rifle cradle, and he can hit the target,

I picked up a butt load of 223 cases out where we go shooting and I was given two sets of 223 dies so that's why I am going to buy a 223 rifle.
I do have a nice Remington 222 rifle, but that ammo is pricey, I don't have much 222 brass so it's time to buy another gun anyway.

I use to use CCI exclusively, they are great primers. I recently have changed over to S&B primers for the price of them. I've shot a few thousand small and large pistol primers with no issues. I haven't tried their rifle primers yet because I have a good stockpile of CCI's for then.

Shells are a little more expensive but a 204 would be a really nice round for your grandson to shoot. Its super accurate, no recoil, less noise than the 223 and fast as hell. Ive shot 223 all my life and about 2 years ago built a 204,,,,,,its awesome for chuck hunting or target shooting.

I've been looking at the Ruger 204 for awhile, it is on my want list, but I have a huge amount of 223 brass, I'll get a 204 some time later this year or next. If I get extra tax cash from Trumps tax plan it will be part of my gun cash fund.
I also plan on putting $25 A week away for my gun fund. That will be $1'200 dollars.
I have been saving all of my change all year long, I roll it and exchange it for two dollar bills and put it towards a used revolver. I average $425 A year.
I need to get going on getting it rolled up. I'm itching for a new to me revolver.

my friends 4yr old will shoot anything you let him even thou the stock is under his shoulder and he loves it ... last thing he shot was his dads 300BO AR

@HighlandLofts 6yr old shooting buddy could shoot my savage 223 with no problem .. i filled the butt with bondo and added lead shot in the forearm
so it has some weight on it now and the recoil is nothing .. all you would have to do is make the gun fit him .. and you could even reload to lower speed in the books to cut the recoil down some more .. he is just target shooting for now ..

The S&Bs are on sale at Cabela’s at the moment for $19.99 so it would be worth it to stock up if there is a store near you or online if you order enough to off set the hazmat charge of $22.00.

However , if you go to the store I hope you have better luck than I did. Primers are behind the pistol counter where no one working was in sight. Sign on the counter instructed customers to take a number. Another fellow said that he had been waiting an hour for help.

Any suggestions, cheap target bullets. I'm not sure of the twist but can find out.

Nosler would be the cheapest of match quality bullets. Although not the best, good enough for most people.

I have yet to order from them. My reloading bench has been packed up for last 5 months and before that I was trying to as as many components up so I would only have to move ammo. I don't know if my wallet can handle the order I'm going to but in with them when the new house is done.

I bought two 223 plastic containers to hold some reloads, A Lee Universal Decapping die and a front rifle rest for my grandson.

They wanted 5 cents a bag, A company that large and the hundreds of millions of dollars in sales annually just lost a bunch of sales by me. I'll be damned if I spend close to $60 and then pay 5 cents for the bag, they can go fuck themselves.

I try to buy local whenever I can. But for reloading I gave that up the local prices and selections are terrible. So now I play the sales online and buy in bulk.

There are three semi local places that sell reloading stuff, one is about thirty miles away another about fifteen miles north of that one and the third is about 75 miles south. So the gas & travel would suck up extra funds and their prices are higher too.
I'll have to get a good size list and check out for the stuff online. Maybe a small group buy.

Your at a tough part in your reloading career. Once you have more established preferences to the different components, you will be able to shop the sales and buy in bulk. Once you hit this stage you can really save some money or just reload/shoot more.

My last primer order was 10K just to spread out the hazmat cost. They were around $20 for 1K with free shipping. I also don't look at powder by the pound anymore I now only look at 8#. I'm hoping to put a 4K order for bullets in the first half of next year. The only reason innit so large is because I know what I want and buying in bulk is cheap. With that said I bet money you shoot more than me, from what you put in your posts. I want to shoot more but I'm at the start of building a family and career and time is tight, so I don't make it to the range like I should. But I look at my horde of reloading components as a type of savings.

Looks as though others caught onto this deal pretty fast and decided to stock up. With the exception of the primers I don't buy much at Cabela's, however, I did find out that they will give you the item at the price it is listed online if you bring it to their attention at the register.

Just to make my shopping trip worth it, I picked up a couple bags of Starline brass which they managed to overcharge me for. Naturally, that means standing in the line at the customer service desk for a refund.

As others have mentioned, I also try to give the local gun store the business whenever possible.
