Have Reel, need rod

I found a rod and reel on the side of the road on my bike ride today. He rod was trashed, but the reel seems to be functional aside from some road rash and a couple small cracks that I’m repairing.

I was eyeing a 7’ Ugly Stick To put this on, but I’m open to any other suggestions anyone might have.

I dont fish alot but have several St. Croix rods and they are very good. They make a variety of casting and spinning rods dialed in for specific fish and fishing styles can check out here Freshwater Fishing Rods

I use Berkely cherrywood rods. For the price I can't complain.

i just use a stick from a tree and some line i found .. dad would get so pissed .. i got more fish then he did with 500 in tackle LOL

its all in how you can wiggle the worm LMAO ..

i kinda like fishing but was not on my top list ..

when i was in South Carolina .. cane pole fishing was the thing ,, no licence needed ..

well screw the cane pole , i just used the spool of fishing line .. cast it like a spinning reel .. get way out there ..

game warden shows up .. you fishing .. yeh .. where is your pole .. don't have one .. points to the spool of line on a tree branch .

he was like WTF .. how to you fish with that .. LOL ..

Funny thing with me is I enjoy fishing but really have no interest in catching a fish lol. I could stay out there all day just casting away and retrieving line if nothing bites so be it. Enjoy using decent tackle and hanging out on back of boat on the lake. So sue me!!!

when i was in SC .. out with friends on there pontoon boat .. were cruising to a new spot ,, i casted out a red devil spinner lure (yea once in a while i buy tackle ) lol .. there all like were going to fast to troll .. then ohhhh shit i got something ,. stop ..

its a snag . no this sucker is fighting .. it not a log .. 3 foot gar fish on the line .. don't bring that asshole on the boat .. WTH .. i want my lure back lol

We went on a charter out of Hilton Head in SC nobody had any luck but this giant Cobia was hanging out under boat. Captain gaffed him lol. Hey what you dont know wont hurt you lol. A little Italian dressing marinated in zip lock and great dinner that night...

Dad bought a condo when I was a kid spent a lot of time down there before it became "popular". Still remember the signs to keep dog on leash lest the become alligator dinner lol...

Fenwick is a great company and they make great rods. I bought a 4 piece pack able rod and first time out I got a snag. I jerked the rod to try to free it and the first section of the rod came off and fell into the water when I couldn’t free the snag and the line broke. I had no proof of this at all. I contacted fenwick to see if I could buy just the front section and no questions asked they sent me an entire new rod. It was a $130 rod. No pictures no questions no nothing. I have another fenwick rod going on 8-9 years old and looks brand new. It’s my favorite rod I have. It’s and HMX and it’s about $100.
