I have agree to agree with you SW60 - the suicide rate among transgendered people is very high - some quote a rate over 40%, as you stated. There is something profoundly wrong if that many people of particular group try to kill themselves.

I'm all in for individual rights. Anybody can dress and act however they like (provided those actions are legal and do not infringe on anyone else's personal rights). People are free to legally act on fetishes and to manipulate their bodies as they please.
You may even ASK me to call a man in a dress "she." I will probably oblige.
You may not, however, teach my children that a mental disposition changes biology and INSIST that the aforementioned man-in-a-dress be welcomed into a public women's room with my young daughter.

Funny story..i was visiting a friend in county jail. There was one uni-sex toilet and I noticed a what I took to be a woman in the waiting room. There was a single sex toilet. when I went to use it, I opened the door to find this "woman" standing there, her/his dress pulled up to his waist, standing over the commode taking a leak. Very un-nerving but funny at the same time. I left him/her to his/her business and closed the door
