McCain did plenty for the US. He is a war hero no argument on that.
He always felt "entitled" to have the greatest HONOR the US can offer POTUS....just like Hilly.
Losing to a Kenyan political activist must have made him even more delusional.
His sacrifice in the Vietnam war must be respected but hurting Americans at almost every turn as a politician for his own personal self entitlement of grandeur makes him a loser and traitor.

I don't see him as a war hero. He was a pilot that got shot down. I'll say that about any service man doing the job he was paid to do.
I say the same about police and fireman as well. A hero is someone who goes above and beyond the call of duty of what is expected of him.

I do respect your opinion and agree once political life began from the savings and loan scandal with Niel Bush to pushing amnesty, he has been a pile of feces.
McCain dropping a bomb on the USS Forrestall from his plane was likely an accident, HOWEVER running below deck and hiding while MOST of his shipmates bravely fought the conflagration that already consumed many of the ship's firemen and only escaped a serious court martial due to his daddy being an admiral is not being a hero.
McCain took out more US planes than probably the entire North Vietnamese Air Force did that month, hell he is likely a North Vietnamese ace, but "hero" I think not, at least not for me.
