Hunting gloves whatcha got

I’m going deer hunting Saturday of next week and I’m looking for some descent glove to keep me warm. I’ll small game hunt all winter so if they could double that would be great. I bought a pair of thin thinsulate ones today, but they will not cut it. I was cold on a short fishing trip today. Package said they were warmer and would keep your hands warm while it cold and sitting still. Nope!

I have the same problem with cold hands. I have tried numerous pairs of gloves over the years and nothing works for me.
I had to give up sporting clay's during the winter months because of my hands.
Try mittens with gloves as liners, might work for you!

I'll fill ya in on a secret my concentration camp grandfather taught me. When your hands get cold to the point it becomes uncomfortable, clap them together. It hurts like hell but within a few minutes they will warm like you wouldn't believe.

I realize clapping while hunting isn't an option so I will "smash" my fingers against a tree or something hard like a gun stock or barrel. When I say smash I mean like to apply pressure to make them sting. I too have yet to find gloves that work well while sitting.

Well ok guys that makes me feel great and like I’m not stupid. My wife was like well I could have told you they were too thin. The package said warmer and comfortable in cold conditions while sitting?

Fingerless gloves, both hands no matter how cold, disposable hand warmer in each front coat pocket, done.

You have to find gloves with the right balance of keeping you warm but not too warm where you sweat. Your hands will never stay warm unless you dry the gloves back out. Same with boots. I used to wear supper insulated boots and socks. My feet would sweat and that was it, never could get them warmed back up. Now I use light breathable ones and I’m fine all day hunting in the coldest weather. A few guides I know hunt in sneakers.

Hand warmer is a welcome option. I have one with liquid fuel ( Jon-e ) and another with solid fuel stick. When going out in the cold for extended periods of time and having to be reasonably stationary I wear mittens. I have a pair of Army trigger finger mittens that work well. These have a wool mitten liner with a canvas shell with leather palm. I only break them out if it is COLD. I have another pair of mittens with a trap door like set-up that will let me expose my finger tips... Velcro keeps flap shut and open IIRC. The only thing worse than cold hands is cold feet...

Well I bought some and I’ll see how it goes. They are mid heavy weight with a nice cushy fleece lining. At least it will be soft? I’ll get some hand warmers too.

Layering gloves works well too, thin close fitting liner gloves and heavy unlined leather outer gloves. Plus you can drop the outer gloves if you need the dexterity while retaining some protection.

I'm out on this convo for gloves .. nothing works .. I got electrocuted in the left hand and out the right leg .. 23,000 volts .. few weeks in a burn unit ..
my thumb and index finger just like go into frostbite mode when cold outside .. hand warmers the other day hunting didn't even help ..
a really good thermos of hot coffee to pour a cup from and soak the digits in helps the most .. .. you could try pee if you want to LMAO ..
i just deal with it the best i can ..

On a side note .. WTF do our hands and feet are the worst when its fkin cold outside hunting .. but the lower head is always warm and cozy .. LMAO .. WTH ..
just keep your hand in your pants till time to shoot ?? LMAO ..

If it’s cold and wet out I get some turtling action man. I got to pull the head out to take a piss sometimes. Armpits are better and don’t interfere with the gun placement.

I had these back in the days when a teen .. fell asleep with one around my neck on a lanyard .. woke up with a nice red mark on my chest ..
I might get a set of these again for next year ..

I have a pair similar to these. There's a pocket to add a hand warmer in each one, and I can get my trigger finger out one-handed.

I actually have 3 different pairs of the "flip mittens", one pair with the attached inner fingers, the other 2 are fingerless. I go back and forth on which pair I prefer.

I bought a thin pair of gloves for shooting days. Wore those Thursday. I watched my deer for ~10 minutes and ignored everything else. When I finally got her and snapped out of it, my fingers were numb and I hadn't noticed it while I was fixated on the scope. Took a good minute or two to get the feeling back. Gloves not great for winter hunting, they were just a thin pair from Home Depot.

I think I'll be looking for a pair of mittens with the fingers cut out underneath/inside. Those seem to work the best. Pretty sure I don't want a thin pair of bow gloves.

I bought these. They were super comfortable when I tried them on at gander. Those ones were too big though so I bought mediums from amazon. Of course there’s a 50/50 chance they won’t get here by Friday.
