I never thought I would do this to my Glock

I figured it would be good time to start a thread that is based around shooting

I have been shooting you Glock 34 for a while now and did something I never thought I would. I do have a smaller hand and I found I can grip the pistol better with the small beavertail grip panel installed. I now can get a much better squeeze from the area between my thumb and index finger. It also allows me to get more of my left hand on the grip too. To top it off I installed a Talon sandpaper grip.

So, I encourage any gen 4 owner to give the grip panels a shot.

I wonder how long till we see fully integral optics on pistols? I wonder if consideration for optics will eventually drive pistol design away from the reciprocating slide design?

The open class competition guy have their optics on a mount attached to the frame. For a pistol the needs to be concealed it may not be convient.

Well I just tried the panels on my G26 and think I like the small beavertail on it too. I will have to try it at the range.

I didnt, I got the pistol through trade and it was on it. I do like it. A guy that I know got one and he keep dropping mags while shooting so it may not work for everyone.

Sweet blaster, I like how the gen 4 give you the option of the back straps or just the beavertail, as someone with sell not Steve Fisher hands it's nice to be able to add the beaver tail but not any size to the grip.

How do you like the talon grips, I keep meaning to add some as a place holder until I send my frame out for work

Glocks cut the shot out of skin in between my thumb and pointer finger if i don't use the beaver tail adapter.

I have big hands so it happens on most smaller framed guns.

I do like the Talons for a range gun, I would not want to have the sandpaper for carry. The sandpaper would tear up cloths and rub you raw. The rubber ones are nice too and a ton cheaper than sending the frame out. IMO a stiple job is more about looks. and some of the cnc jobs are sick!!!

I dont have a gen3 to hold but starting to think when Glock made the gen 4 it was more of an after thought deal making the grip smaller for marketing than making a better grip. Give a strap a shot on your G19 frame, you might be surprised.

I can tell you a professionally done stipple job isn't just for looks. I actually have a plan to have all of my polymer guns to be stippled. I like the grip better than even the rubberized grips.

That is why I tried to be clear that it was my opinion thats all. I have had the opportunity to shoot a few pistols with with high quality stipple jobs and a friend does stippling for quite a few pistols for local guys who dont want the hassel of shipping their frames. I dont feel like I get a better grip due to the stipple. But, I know a few guys who are very particular about the feel and texture of their grip and a stipple job is the only option for them. The only advice I would give someone who is considering a stipple job is to shoot a pistol that has been done first before spending the money and dealing with the hassel of shipping a frame out. It can get pretty pricey.

Who do you send your pistols to? Could you post some pics?

That pistol is WOW, awesome.

Like I said I have fired a few high end jobs and handled several others. I dont like to count ones I have not fired since I found that just holding a pistol doesnt tell the whole story.

Man if I had your pistol I might be afraid to shoot it, that thing is beautiful. I have never seen a finish like that on a plastic frame...

From all my research I have also heard that laser stippling does nothing but look cool

How have those mags been? Not that glock mags are "expensive" but more mags = better and less money = more mags (I'll always keep OEM mags for carry, but range/classes/competition I wouldn't mind finding a good alternative)

I haven't put them through the paces yet. When I got them is the same time we started getting busy building the house, so o barley got to shoot last summer.

Ya it's pretty fun at that club. I like that people dont take it too seriously and am there just to have fun and be better shooters.

Theres an indoor league by me I've been meaning to check out I just haven't had the time.

That one of the reasons people usually get the slide milled to balance out the added weight. So far for me no problem with ammo but it's almost been 100% reloads. I dont reload hot so much guy says it's not an issue. I also have put about 100 round through the 9mm conversion barrel and haven't noticed any cycling issues. That's with midway up the scale reloads too.

Most modern guns are over sprung from the factory, you can see many people even running RMR stock glocks suppressed.

But an even easier option that slide cuts is even dropping down to a 15lb recoil spring.

I have not has any issues. It may not add much weight, the slide cut is removing steel and the dots are aluminium
