Adirondacks have had ice for most of the winter. Here are a few pics of my nephew and a couple of the little ones that he was able to fit through the holes.

Nice. That brown and smallie are huge. I have never even seen a smallie on camera. Many large mouth and they do bite here and there.
It’s tough since I live in western NY so that’s a far drive for me. I was going to rent the cabins at Wellsey Island but man are they expensive.

Go hit Lake Erie in the summer. It's a HUGE spot for smallies. There and the western tip of Lake Ontario and the 1000 Islands are some of the best smallmouth fisheries in the world. This past summer, the Bassmasters actually had TWO guys finish with 100+ lb bags (total for 4 days)

I’d love to ice a few walleyes. That was one of my goals for this year but I don’t know that it will happen. Good luck and post up some pictures. I’m hoping for the weekend after this one but I don’t even know that that will happen around here. We’re planning a trip to Oneida lake, but haven’t talked about when. I fear the bite will cool down by the time we get there.

Nope. Is it not safe? I’d be with my kid so dying isn’t high on my list or his, my wife would be pissed if I died.

Reading on this seems interesting for sure. I’ve never been there and a guy my friend works with was going to give him GPS coordinates to fish, but we’d still need to navigate this on the way out. How bad is it? If we slid our way out is that cool or do you not recommend it? I haven’t spudded my way out yet but I’m not a dummy, but experience is important in some circumstances.

No bueno this weekend for ice fishing. I safe ice. Maybe next weekend?? They keep raising the temperatures so who knows.

Silver lake is the only one around here that’s had any reports of good ice. Some people are trying Cuba lake, but the shore ice is sketchy at best, and only about 3” of use under slush.

I have zero hopes of getting on the ice this year.

I may try silver next weekend but the issue is parking. There is no parking there to begin with and if that’s the only place around it will make it that much worse.
