6.5 Creedmoor
I had a celluloid handled Case slip joint that developed a bad case of corrosion / rust from outgassing. If you don't know what that is, it is deterioration of the celluloid scales, accompanied by rusting, corrosion to the steel. Anyways, look it up on a knife site for a better explanation. Make a long story short, blade, backspring, bolsters, scales - over a period of six months, corroded beyond belief. (I had this knife for 26 years with no issues) This was a Case Classic, 1098 pattern in waterfall celluloid. Found -- muskratmanknives.com - sent him a few pics, said he would be able to help. Turnaround time was about 4 months, I decided to change the celluloid scales out for maroon micarta, -- What I received back was a beautiful, new looking knife, with fit and finish comparable to any upscale collector grade knife. I would expect this grade of finishing in a $500 custom made knife. Cost to me was $80 -- if you need one repaired, or just pimped out, check out his site, - he also has lots of stuff for sale. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
