I don't think that going to work in NY. It works in California because they define a pistol grip.
“(d) “pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon” means a grip that allows for a pistol style grasp in which the web of the trigger hand (between the thumb and index finger) can be placed below the top exposed portion of the trigger while firing.”
Since NY has no definition, it is just a pistol grip wrapped in Kydex. lt's just the same as a barrel wrapped in Kydex would still be a barrel.

Not the same thing. The grip is off with one screw and no longer part of the weapon and replaced with the Spur.
With the Kydex, the grip is still there.

I read these posts and think wow just about every comment is how this is no good in NY good luck with that. NY has no definition of a pistol grip. Well they purposely wrote it vague to keep the sheep guessing and confused. Not one post has pointed that out.
That certainly sounds probable. However, I think they are just stupid idiots writing laws with the help of these Bloomberg backed groups as so called experts who have no clue as to how firearms really work. Fuck em....... Vague law. No definition. IMO and I am not an attorney, arguable if you made a reasonable attempt to comply.

I didnt say its illegal but that doesnt matter if a cop doesnt know either. He may seize the weapon and you may have to jump through hoops to get it back while someone decides if its legal or not.
Mine did....sort of, its what I meant.
A cop could cause you "problems" becsuse he has no idea if its legal. So he may confiscate your gun while his superiors try to decide if its legal.

If the answer is no, what makes this different? Give a different answer other than vague. I want to learn. Even Federal laws are vague.

How would that affect the silencer other than melting into a mess?
You can cover a short barrel in a long shroud to make it legal, they do it all the time for sten gun kits (would probably be considered a flash hider in FUAC kingdom though.).

If the cap becomes part of the barrel via pin and weld as per the ATF, then no.
The reason your examples are different is because wrapping the Kydex around the grip stops the user from using the grip as its' intended purpose. Kind of like plugging a thump hole stock. No longer useable.
