Is 22 LR price peaking?

I took 22lr for granted. I still remember the days if I could go into Gander Mtn in Henrietta and pick up a 500 brick box from a display table OVERFLOWING with em for 19.99...
I just figured it would always be there when I "needed" it........
Now IF i see any ammo - by the time I get my 2nd mtg approved its sold out!!!!
In due time Im sure it will all come back into "normal" supply.........
I would consider my "stockpile" VERY small and my wife gives me such grief when I do wanna buy some!!!!

It is not a dollar a round yet so I doubt it has peaked.

I was pretty shocked to see it, and again, not shocked when it disappeared, the 10 boxes they had, in 15 minutes.
And being new, I'm unaware of that price is pre Obama. Honestly, would it be? I absolutely, sincerely wouldn't know.
I seem to recall the Remington Golden Bullet 525 packs going for about $20 in the Bush years.

I have no experience with Aquila, I picked up a 50rd box to see if my M&P 22 would like it but have not tried it as of yet!
My Go-To 22 ammo is CCI any type then Federal then Winchester..
The bolt actions, lever and pump's are not as fussy as semi-autos. But my Ruger 77/22 with a Shilen barrel does shoot CCI SV as good or better then some of the high-end target ammo.
If this is indeed going to be the going rate for 22lr, I am a very, very wealthy man.

I was just looking through my stash. I thought I still had a few bricks from walmart from the 90's with $8.50 on them with the little price stickers. Must be I finished that stuff though. The oldest stuff I have now is after they stopped using price guns.
.22 is the only ammo I have any quantity of. I must have something like 50k rounds on my closet shelf.
I was buying the CCI AR Tactical 300 round packs like there was no tomorrow but I lost all interest in .22LR firerms and never shot any of it. I should get a nice .22 pistol and sex up my 10/22 perhaps?

I've really like my S&W M&P full size with the Vortex 6 MOA for shooting steel, Browning Buckmark for target shooting.
