Just bought a new EDC Knife

Just picked up a CRKT Minimalist Bowie. Only concern is I hope it fits on my belt, have read that the supplied belt loop on the sheath is very thin, we will see!

Fairly excited about it. Was under $20 dollars on amazon. Should get it Wed.

isn't that a "neck knife", I have a couple of them (from cold steel) they are pretty handy, unless you're laying down or upside down, then they kinda get in the way.

Ya it's considered a neck knife. Not sure if I'll wear it like that or not.

Kind of strange calling a neck knife a "Bowie" ,especially with a blade length of 2.125". Not really digging the finger grip handle either. You would get much better use of a knife of that size with a standard type handle. I'd be interested to hear your take on it though, after you try it out on various things.

I'm guessing they call it Bowie just because the blade shape. They have a whole minimalist line which includes a tanto and wharncliffe blades....I am curious how the grip feels as well

I like the blade designs of the minimalist series but I just can't get myself to like the handle design. Maybe if I had one in my hand I would feel different about it, but from a purely astetic point of view in IMO, they are butt ass ugly. I do like the SPEW wharncliffe design though. I have owned and used similar designs and that is a good functional knife.

I almost got the spew instead but decided I wanted the shorter lenght. We will see if I regret that decision. As far as the handle, I have read people find it very comfortable, again something that I really don't know. I'll post about how I feel regarding the handle also with some pictures.

I'm thinking due to the finger grove handle design that this would be an excellent little strong side tactical knife in a cross draw sheath.

I could find myself buying the SPEW also its on my amazon wishlist lol. I just wasn't too sure about the blade type either as I am unfamiliar with it and have never used a knife with that type of blade.

I plan on making the minimalist my first of a collection of smaller blades.

I only have a few knives currently Kershaw 1920 which I have had for years and is handy due to the screw driver attachment (lost the bits mostly), Gerber Mini ParaFrame, Cold Steel FinnBear, a Mora knife (want a new one) and a Gerber Prodigy is my large knife.

I have carried this Kershaw Leek as my EDC knife for quite awhile. These are a slightly modified version of the wharncliffe. I love this knife. As an edc knife it does everything I need it to do, is extremely sharp and The blade touches up nicely too.

Like I said, I have a couple of these neck knives, I have a cold steel Tanto and Cold steel beavertail. Both have a standard rubberized handle, but I wish I had the finger grip type. With such a small knife I think you will like the finger grip style handle.

Ordered the Bowie. I figured it would see most use out of the styles for me. Will probably use it fishing I am thinking.

I picked up the Bowie version a while back after seeing it mentioned in a article by MDTS. I do find the finger choils in the grip to be comfortable. At some point I would like to have the original version made by Folts himself.

Looked at his site. Nice work. I also like the Kwaiken. I'm kind of digging that Modified D2 steel hawkbil folder too. I used to use an old case hawkbil for years as my, do everything, work knife.
I wouldn't mind having another one.

So I just had to run to lowes to grab a bolt and noticed the crkt minimalist Bowie for sale for $19.99. Must be a sign I was meant to buy it. Who am I to tempt fate.
