The Joe Biden White House -filled with Obama ideologues- responded to the threat of intense political damage, by organizing push-back against parent groups through the various educational organizations, teachers unions and community activists. Their assembled strategy resulted in the letter from the National School Board Association, to the DOJ into the awaiting hands of DAG Lisa Monaco.
Monaco, having previously seeded the discussion within Main Justice about the political threat, then organized and helped draft the memo quickly signed by AG Merrick Garland. The NSBA letter arrived on Friday and the AG memo instructing the FBI to target parents was signed the following Monday. Everything in the background of the issue highlights how the political needs of the White House become the focus of activity by the U.S. Justice Department.

What I don't get is why on the state level an attorney general is elected independent of the governor and not appointed by the governor (as it should be), yet in the federal government, the AG is appointed by the president and not elected like a sheriff. The way the feds do it is so obviously vulnerable to corruption and bias. How can you have a department that is supposed to be impartial, set up to be partial?

Ted has my vote for president. He has the ideas and the balls of Trump but he acts more presidential.

In theory there shouldn't *be* a federal AG. The entire DOJ should be gone.
Criminal law should be entirely the realm of the states. The feds should only be concerned with diplomatic and military issues, and settling disputes between the states.
That's why it's all broken. The feds have assumed all sorts of powers they were never intended to have.

You raise an excellent point, one worthy of its own thread.
The deep state simply will not allow an outsider to win again. I think Desantis is a better choice than Trump, simply because of the lack of baggage and the lack of hostility. But the press will be against him as much as they would be against Trump.
I want someone that will bring the system crashing down. Yet that person would never be allowed to be a primary challenger, let alone a presidential candidate.
What are we to do?
