Ahhh, gothchas. That works - I've seen it, and use it, to mean "former USA".
Guess I'm much more cynical...
They tell bold faced lies with reckless abandon because we don't have a news media that will call them out. Instead the MSM swoons and covers for them. True journalism is dead, replaced only by activism with a broad audience.

2. She was sexually assaulted in 2011
Being a journalist will take you to various places to interview victims, but in some instances, you wind up being the victim. It happened to Lara in 2011 when she was in Cairo where she had gone to report on the fall of Hosni Mubarak’s government. The celebration turned bitter when more than 200 men tore off her clothes and raped her over and over with their hands. As she revealed to The Washington Post, her saving grace came in the form of an Egyptian woman who helped her escape.
3. She still suffers from health issues from her sexual assault
By 2015, Lara had made four hospital visits connected to complications arising from her sexual assault. In 2017, Lara opened up saying that she continued to have pelvic pain due to a hysterectomy that did not heal. Lara noted that since the attackers used flagpoles, hands and sticks, the muscles in her body also experienced traumatic stress that had to be treated by a specialist. Further, as Lara was raped, she held on to her bodyguard, Ray, and did not let go until the ordeal was over. Due to the extended period of clasping her fingers, Lara has arthritis in her right hand, which she treats with periodic steroid injections

I think afghanistan could have worked but in retrospect we would have had to make it a US territory and commit to indefinitely stay; 50 years, 100 years whatever. If you look at how colonialism works--and it can--you have to basically just move your people in over a long period of time. I realize of course that sending boats of americans over to afghanistan to live on compounds and slowly take the country over wouldn't have played well.I think we should have a new rule about foreign military intervention.
You can send the US military anywhere you think you need to, but the ROE has to be "kill everything that moves".
Want a less aggressive ROE ? then let the state department handle it themselves.
Meanwhile, US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan told ABC's Good Morning America that the U.S. intends to continue sending health, food and other forms of humanitarian aid to the Afghan people.
The death of freedom: Taliban hold mock funerals for American forces
