A-703, Prohibits the use of lead ammunition in the taking of wildlife on wildlife management areas, state forests, forest preserves, state parks or any other state-owned land that is open for hunting and on land contributing surface water to the New York city water supply, is on the Assembly EnCon Committee agenda for Tuesday, May 7 @ 11:00am.

AFAIK, this proposed law would not make use of lead ammo illegal when target shooting NYS land.

BD, I agree -- it is death by a thousand cuts. To be clear, I am against a ban of lead ammo.

Just wondering if the argument for a proposed ban is made nonsensical because most lead ammo used on NYS land is shot during target practice and not during hunting.

This proposed bill is in committee. There is time to rally a phone call and letter writing campaign to have FUDDs and others tell their reps in the NYS Assembly and NYS Senate that they do not agree with the proposed ban. Help spread the word. I will.
