Apparently there are lots of pipes in flint that might be able to help you out.
Honestly I have a bunch of old sinkers that might help you out. Let me look around over the next few days to see what I have. My grandpa used to lake fish and I have a tackle box pretty full of it somewhere. I just have to find it. I'm in Buffalo so I see your in the area.

I'm with you. I've been mining my indoor range for lead but I don't get much lead for the effort. Do you cast yet? I was going to start a thread about it but have been too busy lately?

I have been casting fishing sinkers and split shots for a bit now but want to try my hand at casting handgun rounds and powder coating them.

I found about 8 lbs of lead. I know I have another tackle box sitting around with more sinkers in it, but could not find it. Let me know what you want to do. I live in tonawanda and we could meet some where. I will look again for the other box.
That's my plan too. I bought powder from a guy on cast boolits to try out. I just haven't had the extra cash to invest in the needs equipment. Right now I'm stuck rendering dirty lead to ingots. I have a 30 can and full plus a dozen more waiting for the day.

ya I'm slowly gathering things to start, would like to stock like some lead first, local indoor range won't let me mine it, they said because of hazmat reasons. so just been looking for a cheap source for the lead
Good luck I have feelers out all over the place and have had zero luck. Everyone in this state treats the stuff like uranium. I wish wheel weights we're still available.

Did you guys try calling Rochester lead works. They might sell to you. I know some one that works there and might be able to get you some. How much are you looking for? I'll see him Saturday so I'll let you know. I know it's a bit of a drive. Also a lot of it for sale on eBay.
I would be willing to drive that far. I'm pretty close to there anyways. funds are short on my end for a while but I would love a price breakdown for the future. If the price is right I would be willing to buy a ton once and be done with it.

I'm right between buffalo and Rochester so it's not to far. check on prices for me if you don't mind. I can get it at a scrap yard near me but it's $1+ per pound, I'm looking for a cheaper source. let me know if you get any info, thanks.

have you hit the car dealers in your area .. I hit mine and one had 5 , 5 gallon pails full of weights .. got 2 buckets left to sort .. i was getting like 30 lbs per bucket .. cost me 5 bucks a pail ..

I've tried a few tires shops most of them told me since they went to steel and they haven't seen lead ones in a while

You aren't going to find any lead in a tire shop -- illegal to have on the premises. Find someone who works for a hospital, when they refurbish an x-ray room -- the wall sheathing lead is generally replaced, -- usually just thrown our. Sheets 4' x 8', usually about 1/8" thick.
If your close to me I would take them off your hands. Meanstreak gets first dibs though. But if no one on this forum is interested I would put it on Caigslist you will have a taker in no time.
Are old window sash weights lead? I have some of those
