The motion to vacate is key. It’s a privilege motion (supersedes all other business except adjournment) that takes only one movement. If invoked, McCarthy would need a majority of 218 to STAY as Speaker.

House Freedom Caucus has ~45 members (20%) but got 3 out of 9 GOP seats on all-powerful Rules Committee.

McCarthy only wanted to give 2 seats. 3 is a rather big deal because it’s Veto power on every bill.

Sounds good. But the democrats can call for a new speaker as well. As we learned a new speaker needs a majority of those present to win. I bet the democrats are already war gaming out how to wait for a few republican absences to request a vote for a new speaker.

Don't get me wrong, on balance I am glad the 20 held out. I remain wary that McCarthy won't somehow find a way to renege on any agreement and I won't be surprised if the democrats find a way to leverage the changes to their advantage. I'm just too cynical.

@GOPerfect thanks for a nice Readers Digest Condensed editorial of the BS we endured this week. This could be a good thing. Or not. My fear is that we see one, just one (R) go rogue and demand a new vote. If this happens too many times, and I fear it will, the effectiveness will be lost.

When the (D)'s are threatened with the little boy Biden and his crime family being investigated and threatened with impeachment proceedings we could easily see them vote to keep McCarthy as speaker knowing he's no different than them as their RINO SOTH.

The 118th Congress is shaping up to be, at the very minimum, an incredibly interesting Government Of The People. How it turns out is anyone's guess at this point.

In the grand scheme you are absolutely correct. So to your point maybe the best we can hope for is Congress exposing some of this through its investigations. Of course the MSM will still serve as a roadblock, running cover for the deep state. I hope whatever is uncovered is potent enough not to be ignored by them. This becomes a strategic battle rather than a tactical one and Republicans aren't good at either.

In the end it's all theater as the One-World agenda grinds on.
