Muzzleloader - Remington 700 Ultimate

Since it seems certain that eventually we will be allowed to possess only muzzleloaders I am curious about the Remington 700 Ultimate. Apparently it is an unusual design for a muzzleloader. There are conflicting reports online. Thanks for any info.

Questions:

1. Is it legal to hunt deer with this rifle in NYS during the muzzleloader season?
2. Does it require an FFL and 4473 to purchase in NYS?
3. Is the rifle as good as they say? Any downsides?

huh!!! ..

my CVA in line has a breach plug .. i can unscrew it and push a pill in and add the powder , screw the plug back in and hit it with the ram rod .. i didn't load it from the muzzle .. .. can i make BP 12 gauge loads for my 500 moss pump and call it a muzzle loader ...

i have made BP loads for it for shot .. my 500 moss is bi-powder .. i think it should sue for gender discrimination

Yes, it is legal for hunting in NY. The ATF does not consider muzzle loaders to be firearms. Yet. So, no, you don't have to fill out a 4473, and you could probably get one mail order.

I can't comment on their reliability, I am old school with muzzle loaders, flintlocks are my preference.
