We went down to Halstead PA for the final Rimfire Challenge of the year. It was cold, miserable and snowing plus wind. We are still working on my 13 yr old daughters pistol shooting.
My 17 yr old son shot his Victory 22 (which he also uses for Bulls eye) with a red dot and our custom built 10/22 rifle with red dot
Daughter shot a Mark IV 22/45 with a red dot (trigger sux) and our custom built 10/22 rifle with red dot
I (48) shot a Mark IV Competition Signature series (the stoopid expensive one and the trigger sux) and an M&P 15-22 Sport Competition , both with open sights. (Hey, when in PA shoot what you can right? NY sux)
MY son whooped me by 50 seconds all around. My Daughter beat me by 6 seconds in rifle but I beat her overall.
The overall best time of the day was shooting at 4 club (card game) targets in a row and then the stop plate. My son hit 1.63 seconds and the next best was 1.66. I had a 2.20. WTF? This was Rifle.
We were just shy of 1K rounds for the 3 of us. Damn, now I'm down to about 11K of 22lr
My takeaway from the day is:
1. My son needs to start shooting open sights with me.
2. I need to put a trigger in my daughters Mark IV. (mine will remain stock).
3. I need to get my game on
4. Wife needs to go with us! (never happen, she refuses to miss church)
5. I have no excuses. none.
6. I must be doing something right when I teach my kids because they are beating me!
