My Warne Tactical Rings and Tactical Rail (Picatinny style) arrived today. Yes! Now, to mount my new scope. Great day for an indoor project. Can't wait to see the results!

Scope: Leupold VX-3i 3.5-10×40, CDS w/WindPlex reticle.

Rifle: Rem 700 SPS (BDL-style) Buckmasters, Long-Action, 30-06 Sprg.

Tools of the trade: degreaser, inch pound torque wrench with T15 torx bit, blue (medium strength) thread locker, 'screwdriver' has T15 torx bit for disassembly, and to start new screws

Cleaned, degreased, ready for new base

Tactical Rail installed, using blue thread locker, screws torqued to 25 in lbs per Warne. Ima tell ya the straight-up God's honest boys- this Warne rail is one precision Severe Duty piece of equipment, made in USA of American steel. Has to weigh 4-6 oz alone.

This pic is for credibility's sake. Rail fit perfectly, absolutely no issues. No screw protrusion inside receiver, bolt function tested, slides like butter. Also, plenty of loading port clearance for XL fingers.

Well, I will finish this up today, and post the pics. Yesterday, I made an 'error'...when I was done installing the rail, I cracked open a beer, and suddenly my project came to a screeching halt. No matter, doesn't hurt anything to let the thread locker cure overnight. Besides, thought I had a 1/2" socket, 6 point, shallow, 1/4" drive in my tool chest, but damned if I can find it, so into town I go in a bit to buy one. I'll need it to torque the ring nuts to 65 in lbs.

I like to bed my scope bases with JB Weld.

Wow, I've never wanted/needed anything that permanent. I can see the value in a truly custom fit doing that. Do you use red thread locker too? What if you change your mind, or want to upgrade/modify your platform?

Finished Product: rings screws torqued to 25 in lbs, nuts to 65 in lbs, per Warne recommendation

I followed Warne's website recommendation for this scope...1" tube and 40mm obj. lens. For the Tactical Rail and rings, they recommended Medium height rings (they do not make low height tactical), so as you can see there is plenty of objective bell to barrel clearance, and bolt handle to eyepiece clearance. The height works well for me, I strongly prefer a 'heads-up' position, less eye strain, easier use wearing glasses, and I do not like craning my neck too far forward. It is likely in the future this scope and rings will end up on my gf's Rem 700 SA .243 Win, IF she buys the short-action rail, as eventually I want this scope and rings on this rifle:

Warne 30mm Tactical Picatinny-Style Rings Matte Medium - MPN: 614M

In spite of the fact that the scope I just purchased and installed is all the scope I realistically NEED, I am already wanting a 30mm tube, a bit more high-end magnification and side focus parallax adjustment, with of course CDS. This price point is where I get off the bus. I also want a stock with adjustable comb height someday, but that's another story.

I do too actually. Look how long it took me to finally decide on a scope purchase! Over a year!
Then again I did kinda reverse myself and select what I had previously ruled out on a whim.
