Ruger also came out with a 10-12 rd subcompact, the Max-9. Like the Shield Plus, they're both a little bigger than the Sig 365 and Springfield Hellcat or Kel-Tec P-11.

I like my Shields but I like them as thin and flat as they can be. The 8 round x 9mm mag is a perfect hand fit. I'll have to check out the double stack model but the idea of a wider gun has me a little bias.

Round capacity seems to be the main upgrade. I bought some mag guts kits quite a while ago for my Shield 9mm. Went from 7+1 and two 8rd spare mags to 8+1 and two spare 10 round mags. The +1 added no length to the magazine, the +2 kits added 1/4" with a new floorplate. Basically unnoticeable.

There are aftermarket base plates that extend magazine capacity.

Correct. You can add capacity with kits from magguts.com. The +1 uses the same baseplate with a new spring. The +2 has a baseplate that's a tiny bit taller. Can barely tell the difference.

Ah, got it. Makes sense. We're gtg up to 10 rounds in NYS at the least at a range -- I think the 7 rounds in a 10 round mag thing was also struck down some time ago, but my carry pistols only go up to 7 or 8 anyway so I just default load 7 out of habit.

Honestly my three carries are all pretty good. The shield took a lot longer to break in than the Glock 43 and the P938. But after a good 1k rounds, it evened out a lot. Less jams, far more rare now.

I'd say the G43 out of the box rarely got any jams even in the first 1k rounds. Maybe 1? If that.

yes she is biased and she says so .. she shoots for SW .,. lol so i take that as being honest ..

like she will say .,. this is a over view .. if you got weak fingers .. buy a mag loader ...

she also show how much it weighs unloaded and loaded from other Mp series

my friend wife has a Sccy 9mm pistol muddy girl 10 + 1 and the mag is bitch to load .. but i do like shooting it FUAC ..

And the Ruger is cut for a red dot and the gun MSRPs for $499......should sell for around $400.......not too bad.

I found out about these just a week ago and asked about em at my LGS when I was their buying my SIG. They had 6 and sold out in 4 days.
They got me on a list for the next batch. I figure the Plus would be the 9npy thing I'd ever carry when I get one

Only reason to buy any ruger that isn't a revolver is to make sure you are getting something that can hold over 10 rounds (or even their AR-15s specifically) as a big fuck you to that pos Bill

They finally got it right with the Mark IV and 22/45 Mark IV. Took them long enough.
