Italy is lobbying with the EU to get exemptions on things like this for lamborghini and ferrari. Two of our cars have plugs, but I still see some value in gas cars and I would like to see all manufacturers at least given some exemption so they can still make roaring beasts as long as there are customers to buy them.

Can't wheel Canadian power to NYC metro area. There is no transmission capability. The transmission infrastructure to NYC metro area was historically limited by design in difference to union workers so that generation for NYC metro area is generated in NYC / Westchester. Considering the average age of the cars on the road in NY is 12 years old, gas cars will be on the road well past 2050.

The transmission infrastructure is the bottleneck already even without the surge in new demands and replacement power nightmares . There are upstate merchant plants that could not sell to higher paying downstate bidders. JAF, for example, has had a long history of not finding fair paying customers after upstate industrial loads withered. Likewise with Ontario Hydro ( don't let the name fool you it's mostly nuke) who would love to sell to the lucrative higher bidding SENY market. It is true that projected demands will outstrip generation even after the new high power transmission towers rape the landscape.
