    I remember one season all deer had to be checked here in NY but have since stopped checking....maybe it will start up again soon?!

    There is a very good overview of the status of CWD in NY (and North America in general) found here: Status of CWD - NYS Dept. of Environmental Conservation

    Evidently, outside of a few cases with captive deer in the mid 2000's, there have been no known cases of CWD in NY's deer. Other states, including PA, have had CWD-positive deer, so there have been restrictions on bringing in whole carcasses from those affected states.
     
  4. I think that was only in counties that had a positive test like Onieda. I never remember it statewide.

    yeah if I remember it was just my BIL area in oneida county that was mandetory testing of your harvest. I remember us in ontario it was voluntary if you wanted to have your deer harvest subjected to CWD test..if I remember all correctly.
