We always get sold down the river: by the media, our bosses, politicians, cop haters, etc.

The NYPD per “capita” is the least “trigger happy” department in the nation. Not even close. We fire the least amount of rounds every single year. Our hit percentage is almost always either #1 or close to it. Yet the media and cop haters will say “in 1999, Amadou Diallo was ahot at 41 times,” or “ there was this one time when cops facing a gun in mid-town with people everywhere hit an innocent bystander” and paper target warriors will pounce...

We should shoot more people honestly. Sometimes I’m disappointed we don’t. There’s people on this Earth who need to be shot, and people who shouldn’t avoid doing so to not be criticized.

This is my only concern my concern about non-LEO civilians in general carrying in the city -- that is, assuming HR 38 passes -- is that some people have some horrible accuracy. They might even have less experience, at least through training, with scenarios with large stupid crowds of people like the city.

I like Texas's stance on being able to carry: you have to pass an accuracy exam, among other really practical things. We could all easily pass it, I'd hope ( ), but the point is that it keeps people who are extremely inaccurate from immediately carrying till they work on bringing their accuracy up. It's not a "no" it's a "work on it." Maybe offering and strongly encouraging such classes to people who would like to carry in the city, when it's allowed, would not a bad idea. It's training that people take for granted I think, or don't put enough time into really thinking about in advance.

So, not saying we shouldn't have carry in the city, I just have concerns about people getting the proper training for a dense scenario like that. I'd like to avoid anti-gun haters jumping on the first idiot who misses the target while trying to save someone's life and trying to ruin it for the rest of us.

Shooting at moving vehicles was banned in 1986 when I went through the academy. It was really a waste of time shooting someone with a 38 with the ammo we had. As one skell said after being shot in the torso 4 times. "You guys need 9mm's, a 38 can't kill a cockaroach".
