New York Republican Gubernatorial Primary - Candidate Selection?

I know that there is essentially zero chance that a Republican wins as governor in NY. But, of the current gubernatorial candidates running in the Republican primary, who has the least worst chance?

Astorino - Has already lost a gubernatorial run in the past.

Zeldin - Getting smeared for apparently going along with FUAC agenda

Giuliani - Haven't heard much of him.

Wilson - Don't know much about him.

I'm at a loss.

I am with Astorino. I don't think Zeldin is a bad guy, but I have gotten the feeling from the start that he doesn't want to run and is being put up by the Republicans for some reason. Wilson is a Wall Street guy, that's all I know of him. He did visit Pine Tree Rifle Club recently. He is running ads against Zeldin on Albany television stations. Giuliani traveled a bit upstate, gets a little press, and doesn't have much money.

Giuliani is leading the polls & I like what he says. If he's anything like the old man would be a home run.
I think Astorino is good also, but not much name recognition = little chance.

Astorino was my county executive. He was reasonable. He allowed gun shows back in the Westchester County Center. I doubt anyone north of Westchester has any clue who he is, though. Plus, he's lost his last statewide race.

I'm leaning towards Astorino too. He seems the most genuine to me and the GOP National Committee screwed him over. Even with all that I think he did respectably in this state.

I'm with gunpoliticsny on Zeldin. I have nothing against Zeldin but he seems to be the state GOP sacrificial lamb. I also think he was too cozy with Cuomo. NYSRPA is endorsing him which also gives me pause. Anyone that Tom King likes likely means I won't like them.

Giulinai has the name recognition from his father and that's about the only thing that he has going for him. I also recall him being a brat when he was younger and I get the sense he's just a slightly older brat now. He's running not to make the state better but put a feather in his cap.

Really don't know anything about Wilson but if he's just another Wall Street tycoon he can suck it. Most of those guys are twats and will sell their own mothers to make a dollar. They'd do the same to us if they get the chance.

Hence why I'm likely voting for Rob Astorino.

Considering how little support was given to him until a stroke before midnight, he actually didn't do that bad. Pretty sad though that one might have to consider who has a better chance of winning instead of who might do a better job.

We had an excellent chance with Astorino last time around and the nygop screwed him over and ultimately us by not supporting him. They are doing the same to him again in Favor of Zeldin . I don’t dislike Zeldin and I’ve heard a couple of interviews with him and like some of his view points. He certainly has more down state support which is definitely needed to win but he needs to really get out and make himself known more in the upstate region, he’s only been here twice that I know of.

Based on their work history, only Astorino's experience and performance as Westchester County Executive has directly shown he would be an effective governor.

I personally put out 150 road signs for Astorino last time. I sent contributions to him as well. I'll be putting my eggs in his basket this time too.
As stated already by others, his lack of party support put him at a huge disadvantage, and yet he actually won 46 of the 62 counties in the state. I'm hoping he can garner more support from the Repubs that didn't make the effort to show up last time.

Astroino did incredibly well, and if the national Republican party had given him an ounce of support we might not have had to put up with as much FUAC.
