As Mayor, I'm instituting a new initiative. I'm going to lobby Albany to follow our example here State wide and by that I mean to have the residents of my city be encouraged to exercise their right to own firearms for their personal safety. We will be offering free safety training classes and target proficiency courses through our local LE community. Citizens who've completed the courses will be fast tracked in our new "SHALL ISSUE" program for CCW licenses. Of course all citizens are welcome to go it alone and still apply, but we feel more confident citizens will be happy to come on down with the free courses offered. With this initiative, we will be paying a higher scrutiny to any and all crimes committed with or in the possession of firearms. Criminals who abuse their rights and the rights of others by employing the use of a firearm will find no Quarter Given, no deals, no pleas. Those criminals who use unregistered weapons, or are themselves not licensed, will find in addition to No Quarter/Take No Prisoner applied to them, but the full weight of the justice system upon them. We will have both the Carrot, and the Stick. You will have full and Constitutional Rights to your disposal, but if you screw up, you will also have the consequences of those actions immediately upon you, and you only! We are creating this new initiative in recognition of the Citizens Rights in that the 2nd Amendment is just as paramount as the others. We also recognize that the counties of this State which enjoy high Legal gun ownership by its citizens, also enjoy low crime. We recognize that it is a public service to provide knowledge and education as to safe operation and use of firearms and in this we will offer the training as a part of our public service to our residents. We have applied for Grants from the Trump administration to help offset/defray the cost of these programs. We are also researching the OP Firearm Loaner program, I that citizens who seek protection through the courts, have applied for an be granted Orders of Protection against immanent threat, be issued a loaner firearm until which time they're able to provide their own. Less lethal protection methods will also be available to citizens, but the firearms are a serious consideration. As Mayor, and in conjunction with our founding fathers, we believe that Life, Liberty, and Happiness be the forerunners to our existence in this great nation, and that all else follow through this realization. The only way to inhibit criminals and those who would render Violence upon others, is that they know they will meet equal force, or consequence for their actions. Be it resolved that this be in effect from this day forth 00/00/2017.
