Now That Obama Ceded Control of the Internet, Here’s What It Means

ReadyNutrition Readers, as you may or may not know, as of midnight, October 1, 2016, the U.S. control over the Internet was handed over to ICANN, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers. Congressmen wrote letters, experts petitioned their protests, and four states lodged a complaint in a U.S. District Court in Galveston, TX. Guess what? Nothing worked, and in the latter, the District Court judge was an Obama appointee who denied any delay in the transfer of the Internet into foreign hands on September 30, 2016. Foreign nations, such as Russia, China, Saudi Arabia, North Korea, Iran, and Cuba, to name a few, are now in control of the Internet and its functions.



This is very bad.

Already there are effects being felt. There have been many comments on many different websites about the slowness of the Internet, coupled with the inability to log onto sites, especially those of the independent news media. Personally I have experienced such, in the form of not being able to enter Alex Jones, Dave Hodges, or SHTFplan’s websites, the latter of which I write for. Responses I have received on the screen vary from “Yahoo is unable to connect with this website,” or “Malfunction in connecting to this website,” or “This website is temporarily unavailable.” Sometimes the page comes up and a message “[Whatever website] not responding,” and nothing can be accessed from the site.

Such has been happening for the past two weeks, now, prior to the handover of the Internet to ICANN. Interestingly enough, after attempts to reach these websites, I was completely successful if I entered some left-wing or liberal one such as “The Huffington Post” or “The Washington Post,” with absolutely no difficulties.

Fighting for a Free Internet 

The Internet was developed by the United States government, which has chosen to share it with the world. Up to now it has been an engine of global economic and social progress. Yet because it also enables the free flow of information all around the world instantaneously, it is – as it currently functions – the enemy of those who are the enemy of freedom.


The Chinese are notorious for their efforts to censor content and traffic on the Internet, with the Russians apparently close behind.

On October 15 The Daily Telegraph reported that the general director of Russian service provider Er Telecom, Andrei Semerikov, "said Russia's ministry of communications and Roskomnadzor, the national internet regulator, ordered communications hubs run by the main Russian internet providers to block traffic to foreign communications channels by using a traffic control system called DPI."

The reason for the test was to see if the Russian Internet – known informally as "Runet" – could continue to function if it were cut off from the World Wide Web. The experiment failed, The Telegraph reported, "because thousands of smaller service providers, which Roskomnadzor has little control over, continued to pass information out of the country."




Countries that have failed to stifle free expression at their borders have now turned their attention to the task of gaining control of the root of the Internet itself – meaning a takeover of the non-profit Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers by the Chinese, the Russians or some combination of governments unfriendly to the United States and the democratic process is a possibility that must be taken seriously.

It is time for a new network anyway. A network w/o any government control.
There are many community and peer to peer initiatives. It is also essential for free market and businesses that stays neutral.
Governments will loose no matter how much dick they suck.
