Even light wussy punches would be effective.
Thats cool, and the commentary that the guy is giving it around the four and a half minute mark could not be more accurate. I've been meaning to take a knife training class but I have not had the time yet. I need to make that a priority one of these days.
Although the one thing I will say about carrying a knife is that it has to be at tool and not for personal defense. If the knife is deemed a weapon and not a tool you can be in trouble.
"
- It is illegal to own any knife adapted for use primarily as a weapon"
Agreed, and there are organizations that are fighting against these vague and arbitrary knife laws, but we're dealing with New York City where the irrational and illogical are running the showI mean, by that metric any knife isn't for personal defense -- up until the point you defend yourself with it. But I suppose if I cut open a few boxes while I was defending myself, I might not get charged with having a knife that's primarily a weapon...
The law needs clarity, is my point.
Nah. Not yet. I may later on. As far as NYC legal, Celt brought up a good point. They could classify any knife as dangerous.
§ 265.01. Criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree
A person is guilty of criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree when:
(1) He or she possesses any firearm, electronic dart gun, electronic stun gun, gravity knife, switchblade knife, pilum ballistic knife, metal knuckle knife, cane sword, billy, blackjack, bludgeon, plastic knuckles, metal knuckles, chuka stick, sand bag, sandclub, wrist-brace type slingshot or slungshot, shirken or “Kung Fu star”; or
(2) He possesses any dagger, dangerous knife, dirk, razor, stiletto, imitation pistol, or any other dangerous or deadly instrument or weapon with intent to use the same unlawfully against another; or…..
Then they really tie themselves in knots and saywith intent to use the same unlawfully against another; or…..
How is defending yourself, intent to use it unlawfully?
Especially in the city. I have a knife on me usually a small assisted opening one. Mostly when I work but never really when I go out. Got pulled over on my motorcycle one day from work. The cop asked what’s that and why I have it since he saw the clip on my pocket. I said it’s a knife used for work purposes. “So your saying you carry that for protection?” No sir, it’s used while I work. I am leaving my place of work now and going home. It is used for tasks at my workplace. He must have asked me 3x if it’s for protection. After a while he gave me my credentials back and told me to go.Although the one thing I will say about carrying a knife is that it has to be at tool and not for personal defense. The clip is installed for just that purpose, unfortunately nyc laws have made it so that a visible clip is not concealed. I no longer use clips because i dont want to invite trouble.I never understood people that clip their knives on their pockets for all to see. Just put it in an empty pocket and reach for it when you need it.
I don't even do it up here. Nobody needs to know that I'm armed whether by pistol or blade. The clip is installed for just that purpose, unfortunately nyc laws have made it so that a visible clip is not concealed. I no longer use clips because i dont want to invite trouble.
I switched to fixed blades, on my belt or on my neck.I don't even do it up here. Nobody needs to know that I'm armed whether by pistol or blade.
