NYPD warns cops about New Jersey firearms law
The NYPD is warning its officers that under a new law, they could be arrested in New Jersey if they travel through that state off-duty with high-capacity firearm magazines.

The internal Police Department memo, issued this week, advises New York City cops that if they pass through the neighboring state with a magazine capable of holding more than 10 rounds when they’re not on the clock, they’d be violating the new law.

A federal appeals court earlier this month upheld the law, which limits the magazine size allowed for most gun owners traveling through the Garden State.

While on-duty officers are allowed to carry the large-capacity magazines “while on duty or travelling to or from an authorized place of duty,” the same allowance does not extend to off-duty law enforcement personnel, the memo says.

There is a Federal Law which allows travel through any state with firearms unloaded and locked in the trunk as long as they are legal in the places of departure and destination.

Just imagine if every cop was like @GOPerfect who says that he won't enforce gun laws? You get pulled over and you give him a carry license and the cop says that he doesn't need to see that.

You are at the range or hunting with a full featured AR and the cop instead tells you that you have a cool gun.

You get pulled over out of state traveling legally via FOPA with the gun locked in the trunk and the cop instead tells you to keep it loaded with you inside the car.

If that happened, gun laws wouldn't exist. But instead we have cops that'll enforce any unconstitutional gun law and people like @Truebeliever who will defend them and break down why the cop was in the right to enforce that unconstitutional gun law.
