Off duty Coral Springs pd officer rushed into school

An off duty Coral Springs pd Sargent was working outside at the school, unarmed, at the time of the shooting. He ran towards the school. Treated a student with a gun shot wound. Then continued to the school and met up with his fellow officers from Coral Springs pd (you know, the ones that ran past the Broward cowards fucking off outside). Another officer gave him his sidearm and an extra vest that was not rated to stop rifle rounds. They then proceeded to deal with the shooting.

Bravo to this guy and an even bigger fuck you to the Broward County sheriffs dept.

Im waiting for the radio calls to come out. I have trouble believing that All four deputy's are cowards who disregarded procedure at the same time on the same call while Coral police went in immediately.

To me, it reeks of a fuck up of major proportions, Entertain the idea for a minute. Police are pounded everyday about being safe, safety first, don't be a hero call for backup if possible. Only in cases of school shootings like this are they told to go in with what you got, good luck. which is an exception to the rule . the SOP is to wait for back up if possible.

I suspect, although I have no proof , that they were instructed to secure the doors and wait for backup .I have hard time believing that they just stood outside while shots were going off inside. If true, the fallout would be massive , to say the least.

Maybe Im wrong, maybe they were all cowards . But Id sure like to find out why they stood outside and didn't go in from the officers themselves not CNN.

Sheriff Scott Israel said that, to his knowledge, deputies followed protocol and did not wait for specialized teams to arrive before going into Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla. But he said that details over the office’s response remained unclear.

“That’s exactly what we’re examining,” Sheriff Israel said, noting that active shooter protocols require confronting suspects as quickly as possible. “You don’t wait for SWAT, you get in, and you push toward the shooter.”

Everyone on the forum is probably getting sick of my long rants on this shooting but this whole thing just bothers me to the core.

I’m sure more information is going to come out. I don’t know this sheriffs dept’s sop on school shootings but i do remember some time ago it being reported that many departments were changing sop’s to say that as soon as you get on scene you go in with what you have. No waiting for backup or securing a perimeter. Get to the threat ASAP.

Even if it was sop to wait for backup could you wait outside while someone is walking around shooting up a school? I get that going into something like that is fucking scary and dangerous. But you signed up for it. You wear the badge. Nobody made you become a cop.

And even if it is the sop to wait, in that situation wouldn’t you go in and after the dust settles deal with the consequences? Or tell your superiors to shove their sop up their fucking ass and let your union handle it? From a public relations standpoint you could destroy your superiors.

It is not anywhere near the same thing but I was a volunteer fireman for 10 years and sometimes you broke sop to get something done or do what was right. Yes, maybe it’s more dangerous but in situations where decisions need to made on the fly as things are happening quickly sometimes you break the rules. Deal with consequences later.

i'm in town X dept , but live on the edge of town Y... town Y calls for more man power and air tanks , tones out 3 departments farther away then town X .. town X has 25 spare bottles ( town Y does not like Town X ) .. I grab my gear and head to the main street fire in town Y .. find the chief ( my uncle ) .. i got my gear in the car want me to gear up .. yes .. .. following week i get a ass chewing from my chief for being there .. we wern't toned out for the fire .. Fk this ..

town X gets a call for MVA .. car deer .. we get there .. driver isn't feeling well .. call for EMS .. town X SOP .. ems , pumper and rescue all roll .. wtf Really
we already have a pumper , rescue truck there and first respoders .. why put more units and more guys on the call at risk for nothing ..

As far as I know, the main group it was happening on deleted everything. If I see anything, I’ll copy and paste.

Heres the thing , if they all ignored their protocol and people died because of it , they should be fired for failure to preform their duties.

Even if they were ordered to wait, as someone who has the equipment and taken the oath to protect and serve, how do you wait outside? Especially with 4 officers on scene. Orders or no orders, it’s wrong. Just because someone is in charge doesn’t mean they’re right.

There may be 12 guys in there with explosives and machineguns , there maybe 5 other schools under attack ,They may have taken hostages, Your blind, you don't know, . you trust your leadership . That's where not following orders can get you killed .If these guys are cowards , they should all lose their jobs, if they were following orders , they are covered.

That's the Sherriff saying that his men should have gone in . If he or somebody in his dept told those men to wait , they would be held accountable for that mistake. He , or somebody else would probably lose their job. So hes either covering up the fact , or his men really are cowards .

None of them. They wouldn't be fit for duty.

Besides that I can’t imagine anyone living in their jurisdiction has any trust or faith in that dept anymore. That dept will have to be gutted from top to bottom and work very hard to earn the public’s trust back.
