So right smack in the middle of my "no go" area for the city. To be expected I guess.
That was a tougher neighborhood even in 1980. The Driving Park Avenue Bridge was a kind of barrier to keep some of the deplorables from seeping into the 10th ward.
They charged the kid with 2nd degree murder. These ambush shootings need to be elevated beyond that. Maybe a special designation if they can't be charged with 1st degree. If they can play fast and loose with "hate crime" they can do something here that's right for a change.
According to RPD, Vickers had "juvenile contacts" for assault and battery on an officer at the age of 12, burglaries, strangulation with a deadly weapon, assault with a deadly weapon, and two possessions of firearms offenses. As an adult, he's been convicted of possession of an unlicensed firearm.
This piece of human trash should have locked up years ago for the remainder of his worthless life.

my tour of Rochester was in the mid 90's when i want to collage there ..
Ave D .. guns , drugs .. anything you wanted was there and it seams in 2022 .. nothing has changed ..
the leaders of Rochester there like it that way i guess ..

My Dad had a truck/car repair shop on the corner of Joseph Ave and Clifford Ave from the 40’s-1978. So I grew up working in that area. I was never worried to be there even after getting married and having kids.
My 1st apt was Portland and Norton area. 1st house was Joseph and Norton area. 2nd house was St Paul and Ave D area. We moved to Charlotte Beach area in 1985.
20 years ago I took a drive through the old areas - NEVER AGAIN!
The only way neighborhoods get "revitalized" in Rochester is if the mayor lives there. But I imagine it's that way in lots of cities.
