I know there are only 25 of us with this run (I know I'm missing a few people) and that the second run didn't get enough interest but I think it will be cool to see where the original 25 are taking their builds. Plus I hope this will help garner more interest in the lowers, as they are very nice lowers at that. Anyway, I'll kick off with my progress. So far the only thing shnazzy on mine is the Troy ambi mag release, which I feel helps neutralize the lameness of the Thordsen. I thought I had a full LPK at my apartment, but turns out I was less a few parts. The trigger guard is a stand in btw. I have a barrel on the way from @Bullet Guy , should arrive tomorrow. For now I'll be using the original upper from my S&W sport. I have a YHM gas block/FSP, Spikes Tactical M16BCG yada yada.. I'll be back as it progresses!!!

This will be a great thread! But it's gonna take me a while. Everytime I'm about to buy parts something else comes up. I've scaled back my build plans a bit, no Fostech Echo trigger. I don't have the funds and they are very hard to find anyway and I'm wanting a new pistol soon too. But It will still be a nice fairly high spec build. I'm still doing a basic 14.5 pinned, lightweight build for 0-200 yard duty. I'll be using a Ballistic Advantage Hanson profile (medium light) barrel with mid length gas, Centurion 13" Mlok rail and Sionics NP3 coated BCG.
Trigger group I dunno yet. I really like my Hiperfire EDT trigger in the Daniel Defense but maybe I'll try the Geissele single stage to see if it's any better for the extra cost. All small parts, extension and end plate will be BCM I think. Furniture will be simple and light, Magpul MOE grip (with oil bottle core) and a Battlelink minimalist stock. I'll throw one of my existing DI Optical red dots on it, proly the smaller, lighter FC1. And maybe I'll get a magnifier at some point.
Should make for a fast handling but precise shooter. After this is put together I'll transition the Daniel Defense into more of a recce build with a 1-6 variable scope.

P.S. please don't begrudge the NYS naughtiness of it. I will get a perverse satisfaction of having a so totally non-compliant carbine with an NYS marking on it. It will be my FUCK YOU! tribute to Cuomo.

For what it's worth I have a Geissele two stage trigger one of my builds and love it. Best trigger I've ever used.

Geissele does have an impeccable reputation. I'm using a single stage though as it's better for rapid aimed fire and double taps.

definitely go the single stage. i have the two stage, works great for precision work, but i think in a 3-gun/ hd setup it's too slow for the follow up shots with the take up.

There is also a tendency to "bounce" into the wall of the second stage and that'll throw your shots off a bit.

this is true. i was at the range one day and was dropping my rifle down at 60 degrees after my final shot of each mag. well one time i bounced the trigger on the last shot, started to pull down and the round went off and hit the dirt about 30 yrds ahead of me. i Just didn't pull hard enough when i hit the resistance. just kind of got into the habit of doing it and didn't even notice the round didn't go off. man was the RO happy about that one. didn't help that some jackasses next to me had been shooting the dirt about once every ten minutes, he assumed it was me doing it the whole time when he saw me do it that once.

There are no ROs at my range. It's nice. I go in the middle of the week usually so I've typically got the entire place all to myself till later in the afternoon, and by then I'm just dinkin' handgun silhouettes. Or trying to anyway. My pistol craft leaves a lot to be desired unfortunately.

When you guys get to building your upper receivers consider these faux flash hiders by northerngunparts.com.
AR-.223 1/2-28 STEALTH-NY-CL-740 CLOSED-End, MOCK SLOTS (.375 exit) Barrel Extender-1

I've posted them before and have them on 2 of my latest builds. The slots don't go all the way through so it's in essence an extended thread protector.

Northerngunparts is a small shop who produced these just to help us out in NY. Here's what it looks like on my build.

I don't think mine is going to be built into anything any time soon. I haven't even had a working vehicle for three months now and can't afford to do a damn thing about it. So, my lower is just going to be a cool paperweight for the foreseeable future.

And that's if I can ever even figure out a way to go pick it up. :eek:
