The new U.S. Census Bureau data shows New York state bled over 300,000 residents (1.6% decline) from July 2020 to July 2021:
New York’s net loss of 319,020 residents is the largest single-year decline in the state’s history, according to an analysis by the Empire Center for Public Policy, an Albany research organization.
The Census Bureau statistics released Tuesday blamed most of New York’s decline on domestic migration. The state had a net loss of 352,185 residents when accounting for those who moved to and from other states.
My friend Karol Markowicz is moving with her family from New York City to Florida. In a Fox News op-ed, Karol admitted the leftist policies of the state and city did not help. But the last straw is how fellow New Yorkers cowered and accepted the harsh rules during the pandemic:

I spent a year in New York.and found that the state is a parasite sucking the life out of productive people. Their property taxes are so high that it doubles the cost of owning a home.
I looked at an 11,000 sqft home with an indoor swimming pool for only $800,000! It had been on the market for a long time because no one could afford it.

The whole downtown was desolate because businesses had closed or left.
My bosses’ wife closed her contractor business because the state changed the law so that she was liable for the actions of her subcontractors even if she required them to carry their own insurance. She could loose her business if one of her sub killed somebody while driving drunk on the way to work.

Part of the reason is for my Mrs. Even after her shoulder surgery, she is in near constant pain when she's at work. At 60, is she going to start a new job? We can't afford to live here without her income, winning the lottery, or bankruptcy.

NY has been my home all my life. Originally from upstate, I moved to the Hudson Valley in the early 90s as opportunities upstate were already in decline. It's depressing now to visit "home" and see the decline.

I still have 2 brothers who live in the Binghamton area. One wishes he'd stayed in Virginia when he had the chance. The other works for the state and is counting his days to retirement. He wants to retire to SC.

My oldest son and daughter have moved out of state. My youngest is looking at SC in the fall.

Yeah? We'll get out of NY and the same ranch would cost less than 1/2 in taxes. Insurance is cheaper and so are so many other random usual and customary items you consume. NY is a shit hole in the sense that it does treat it citizens as endless $ pits! Except for it's favored special class citizens it gives away everyone's else's $ to... Like those being bused in by the Feds! Free education to criminal migrants, generational welfare recipients, etc.

And yes, NY treats your retirement income the same as all other income, you still get beat over the head! I might even keep my property here and rent it out and buy a place somewhere else outside NY, that I'll live in and use as my domicile for legal purposes. Why give up all that equity and rents people will pay today which would cover all expenses of the home and I keep the equity and increased valuation over time. Anyways...

When my son relocated to VA, I was amazed how cheap stuff was! Granted, they don't do snow removal, lmao! But that's ok and why everyone has a pickup! Lol...

I know it's not a perfect world, but there is a real world out there that allows you to live differently. Paying more for less here. I have said many times before that NY is a beautiful state. I don't hate it. I hate the liberal politics, politicians and the brain dead scum that keep voting them in and ask "how high" when they are told to jump. Looking forward to our final exit in the very near future. Also I am done with the winters. I enjoy a change of season but not the extremes. Want to ride my bike year round.

Depending on what's going to happen with the jab mandate here in the next two weeks will unfortunately determine my fate of staying here in NY.

My plan is to move someplace where I don't need to rely on too many commercially/government services. Basically some place where I can grow lush fruits and vegetables, a few cows, chickens, etc. Also where I don't need to be burning wood like it's going out of style. Basically be less or not at all dependent on those services.

Basically have some luxuries, but have a plan B. Like what happened to me this weekend. My wash machine broke, so I washed clothes by hand, and I bought a clothes wringer a while back. I washed the clothes, wrang them, then put them in the dryer to finish them up. I actually did the second load of laundry quicker than the washing machine with less water.

I wonder how many would have to leave in a year to make the state implode (economically). If I lose my job this week for remaining vaccine-free, that should be the last push I need to get out of here. It doesn't even make sense to look for another job here.
