So like the title says I picked up a fan Wesson today. I got a new to me Dan Wesson model 715 in 357 magnum. Anybody know anything about these?

Should be a model 15 the stainless version is a 715. Very nice guns. I had a 715, 30 years ago kick myself every time I think about why I sold it. I have a pistol pack 714 now. 2, 4, and 6 inch barrels.
did you get the shim and the tool with it? The gap between the cylinder and the barrel is supposed to be set at .006 the tool allows you to remove the barrel and swap it out with others.

It's a 15-2 hv. Full underlug barrel. The hv stands for high visability sight. I have one. If you got everything with it, box, tools and paperwork they are valuable. Extremely accurate and almost as smooth as my Pythons.

Nice find ! You’re gonna like that one. .357 is a great magnum load and the weight of the full underlug barrel will tame the recoil nicely, even with the hottest of magnum loads.

It was $549. Came with soft case and leather holster, no factory hard case, no spare barrels and no tool kit or shim. I’m starting the search for the tool kit and shim so I can make sure the cylinder gap is ok. This is a gun I plan on leaving the way it is and appreciating it for what it is.

I’ve spent all day on google learning about it. I think I got a deal for $549. I didn’t know that dan Wesson ever made revolvers, I only know them for what they do under CZ with 1911’s I just saw the name dan Wesson and jumped on it as I figured a dan Wesson that shoots for under $600 is worth it, and I had the feeling I would regret not getting it. I still have no clue when it was made.

In 1968 Dan Wesson, the great-grandson of D. B. Wesson, co-founder of Smith & Wesson, founded Dan Wesson to "build the finest revolvers that the shooting world had ever seen." So yeah Dan Wesson built revolvers starting I believe with the model 12.
I paid about $100 less for mine.......but, it had an issue firing in double action. After a $200 overhaul, I now have $650 into it.
Ive been told that I still got a good deal, so you did even better.
Mine came with just the gun....no case, no tools, no paperwork. I got it from a friend.

I know that the model 14-2’s & 15-2’s started around 1975-76 not sure where to look to date them though. When the company fell into financial difficulties prior to being purchased by CZ a lot of the record info. was either misplaced or destroyed. I know many enthusiasts pieced together a lot of the missing info. Over the years.

I did a quick search because I didn’t know anything about it and saw prices of $1500-$1900. So I think you did awesome.
The guy that owed dan Wesson in NY opened a new shop called fusion firearms. My FIL has the low end model and loves it. It’s a nice gun for under $800.
