I am coming due on my PA non-resident permit and need to renew. I heard that Pike County had stopped issuing non-resident permits a couple years ago. Does anyone know if they have started to issue them again?
All counties have to by state law, if they are not issuing than you should take it up with them.
www.pafoa.org use the search bar and there will be a lot of threads about how a county in PA can't pick and choose if they are going to issue, they are a shall issue state that issues non-resident licenses (also if you use that forum don't call it a permit they will flame you, it's a LTCF in PA, license to carry firearm) and the only way they can get away with not issuing is if (you being from N.Y.) have a restricted license
So if the sheriff says no, you're gonna challenge it?
Lackawanna Cty (Scranton) issues them with no hassle.
I just did this today in Scranton because my Pike County was about to expire. In and out in 15 minutes as well. I overpaid the meter right in front of the courthouse by 40 minutes.Pike will NOT renew non resident permits. Go to Scranton, in and out in 15 min.
21 bucks for the license.
It's 21 now? I paid 15 for mine (took 15 min and the lady was even apologizing to me at the 10 min mark for it taking so long)
I'm going out on a limb here and answering this one for @Willjr75
The out of state permit was $20 (that's what I paid a few years ago as well) plus the dollar he put in the parking meter. I'm guessing the meter was $.25/15 minutes. He initially paid the meter $1 (for one hr). He walked into the building, got to the pistol permit office, applied, and got back to his car in a total of 20 minutes, thereby leaving the meter with an additional 40 minutes of unused time.
