Pistol selection help

My wife is looking to get a revolver so we hit up runnings today. I kinda wanted her to get a 357/38 spl pistol so if she could shoot either rounds. So she liked the Kimber k6s and the s&w model 60. What we like about the s&w was the exposed hammer but the cylinder release was hard to operate, the Kimber was a breeze to release the cylinder but no exposed hammer. Weight wasn’t a issue for either. Anyone have any experiences with these pistols? I am open for suggestions also.



We also are not ruling out a pistol in just 38 spl so feel free with comments.

I like my SP101.
It fires both and is 25 oz so it handles hot 357 really good.
And, if far less expensive.

She looked at the sp101 also today. They started to blur together. Before we buy, we will revisit the sp101. I’m not sure she could handle a hot 357, she is on the small size.

My GF is small but has an SP101 also.
She carries 38 Special +p, they are very, vety light recoil in a 2lb gun.

The standard pressure 38 Special are barely more than a 22 as far as recoil.

We both have the 3" barrel.
357 is snappy but nothing too obnoxious

I’m not a pistol guy. I figure with a exposed hammer you could always manually cock it back. Idk if there could be a malfunction where you couldn’t shoot in in double action? Is my concern unfounded?

Shooting single action is nice on the range but you will never use it for self defense. Some say having an exposed hammer can get snagged when drawing. Either gun will be fine but I hear the trigger on the Kimber is buttery smooth.

In my opinion you should get the 357.
Even if she decides to stay with 38, the gun has more heft to help with recoil.
Plus, you can enjoy some magnum loads.

I dont mind the trigger on the SP101.
Especially after a few hundred rounds, it gets real smooth.
However, this is only my second revolver, the first being a 4inch GP100.....so it has a similar trigger.
Maybe they suck as far as revolvers go.
Im very proficient with both.

Unless carry weight is a big concern get the 357 for the reasons above.

Weight shouldn’t be a issue. Hoping to make it back up there sometime this week or next.
