Pleasently Surprised In Ulster County

My 21 year old son had his chat with a judge in UC earlier today. I was expecting him to get restrictions just because I thought that is what they would do because of his age. He actually got a full carry. Pretty stoked for him. He said she asked him why he wanted a permit. Aside from the typical things people would say he mentioned he might live off campus and there had been some crime issues in the area (Alfred University). She asked him about his study, etc.. She also noted he took the safety course and was planning on taking live fire courses which was another reason why he wanted it. He said it was about 5 minutes. Another deplorable is going to be carrying in NY!

my son has an off campus apt there...will have to ask him if about the crime lately..I didnt hear there were issues there.....

Nothing out of the ordinary. We get those emergency notifications from the school for every little thing. A month or so ago there was an armed robbery of an Alfred State student off campus. I guess my son just thought it would be good to mention to help his case. Sadly, you have to do what ever it takes to exercise your right in this freaking state.
