Possible issue with MidwayUSA factory second bullets?

I was reloading some .223 rem today and decided to use the MidwayUSA factory seconds I purchased; 69gr HPBT.

After pressing a few round I noticed that some of the projectiles were different.



The one on the left is .224 and the one on the right is .242

I am assuming correctly that this is a huge issue?

Yea, you can't load .242" into a .224 case.

I'd dump them all out and sort them by size... anything could have happened to have gotten them mixed; fix it and get back to loading.

Looks like a 6mm mixed with the 22.
What is the weight? Could be a 6mm burner.

How old was the purchase? I'd give Midway a call. Someone in the packing department is dyslexic. I have purchased a ton of blemished bullets from Midway without issues.

You never would have gotten it seated in a case; even IF you were to get it started, the case would collapse. Additionally, it's very unlikely that it would even begin to chamber if you were able to load a .243 bullet into a .223 case.

Go through the entire box one at a time. Mic each bullet and seperate anything larger than .224 " . They may have accidentally mixed in the wrong size, but you need to know. I have bought Midway "blems" many times before, but I always mic each bullet because they may have been produced while the press was being set up, and could be oversized. I have found that to be the case in the past. I have found bullets measuring .3095" that were supposed to be .308". Your .243" bullet in a box of .224" is not a press adjustment issue. That is a different caliber somehow mixed in.

same as a 300BO in a 556 .. almost made it ..

No. It will not chamber a 22 bore unless you hit it with a hammer and that If you don't ruin the case trying to seat the bullet first.
I have not tried a bt as an "expander" die.

Well that is because. A short blackout can chamber a 223 case but a 6x45 will not chamber a 223
