Cut Puerto Rico loose. It is an island of parasites, but I guess there are some national security benefits with our current arrangements.

Statehood would be a disaster for this country. Instant welfare state, and congress packed with additional democrats. I don't think I will continue to pay taxes if this happens.

This act is generally meaningless, though. Probably nothing more than a distraction at the moment, but likely a preview of one of the next big dem agenda items.

The constitutional Convention under section 101 shall formulate and draft a Constitution for Puerto Rico that guarantees the protection of fundamental human rights, including—

(1) due process and equal protection under the law;
(2) freedom of speech, press, assembly, association, and religion;
(3) the rights of the accused;
(4) any other economic, social, and cultural rights as the constitutional Convention may deem appropriate and necessary; and
(5) provisions to ensure that no individual born in the nation of Puerto Rico shall be stateless at birth.

Surprised it doesn't mention all the 'Green' rights.

there are about 3,2 million citizens on the island, 3 million would instantly go on welfare. ALL of them will be democrats. period

Back in '78, I spent 8 weeks on the island**. I was working for a subcontractor of a construction company building a penicillin fermentation plant for Bristol-Myers, near Barceloneta. The original plan was to build it in 3 years at a cost of $5M, by the time I was called in ( as a helper ) they were 5 years in, at $55M, LOL. Puerto Ricans ( on the island ) are truly lovely people, but politics and laziness are rampant.

if the America is going to add a state, it should be voted on by the entire populace of the country.

aaawh, never mind, the democrats control all the voting machines anyway.

On top of that, just start a budget to rebuild the island every three to five years, because it gets wiped out by hurricanes, every 3 to 5 years

** I arrived on the island about a month after Karl Wallenda took a dive off a high wire in San Juan, when he fell, he hit the trunk of a Cab and the pavement, where he bleed out, the authorities cleaned it up the best they could, then painted a big black square on the road. when I got there the black square was still there.

I should add, that Puerto Rican chicks, on the island, are some of the hottest looking babes anywhere, except maybe Brazil. I saw VERY FEW over weight babes down there. But thats was 1978.

1980 I was working at an Electrical supply house and helped write the bidding documents for the new process plant they were going to build there.
Because I was doing the specs., we wrote them (with the vendor factories) for our vendors products.
Long story short, the company I was working for got greedy and over priced themselves out of the bid; I got a new job the next week. Our base bid no profits was around $1.2 mil..
