He said Russia has no intention to influence our elections and will respect the choice of the American people.

He said he will work with Biden if that's the choice of the American people. He also reminded his critics on the American left, it was the Soviet Union and its communist party who championed civil rights movement in the U.S. long before it became fashionable with American politicians.

The above mentioned Putin interview from Oct.17th starts with Putin's reaction to Armenia/Azerbaijan conflict, which was in the forefront of news cycle at the time. The conflict was instigated by a NATO country (Turkey) and diffused by Russia during 10 hour negotiations between representatives of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia's foreign minister Sergei Lavrov (whose father was an Armenian). Will Russia, Putin, Lavrov get any credit in our media for accomplishing seize-fire, saving hundreds of lives? I doubt it.

Soviet Union supported civil rights (i.e. equal rights) movement in the U.S. This support was based on fundamental communist belief of equality of all races. This wasn't a dominant belief in this country or Western Democracies at the time. Soviet Union also stood against colonialism on the same principle. Which of these historical facts do you disagree with?

They were competing with us ideologically, that's different than trying to destabilize us. We were trying to destabilize them using their multiethnic make up. In fact we continued the same practices after the collapse of communism.

Both efforts were directly related to international prestige and influence.
