I would not recommend putting a bipod on the barrel. That will not make you happy at the range.
The bottom picture looks like a magna-port barrel.

I agree. You want that barrel to float and not support the weight of the gun.

How old is it? I don't think the ported barrel is factory.

Beautiful! Congrats!

If you have it original and professionally done like many African style guns do not touch a thing.
The 375 is not the type of firearm you are going for super tight groups from a bench unless you use reduced loads.
It will beat you up like an old rug and driving the rifle sitting from a bench will be a challenge.
My advise is to get some sandbags and get down to the ground or learn how to shoot with a stick standing
and kneeling/seating. It is a hunters dream to bring down anything walking on this planet and not a Bench Rest gun.

I think the ported barrel might help you and if you install anything it would have to be heavy duty to
put enough forward pressure for a heavy rifle as it will want to jump out of position and beat you up.
So my advice would be to let it slide uniformly and concentrate on that classic technique and make
sure you have a nice recoil pad either in the rifle but if you want to keep it original get a shooting best
or one of those that slide over. I don't like those but they say they help.

You could buy a steady rifle rest but IMO it is a separation from the firearm and they do not make better shooters.
A forward support is a different story something you can stack up and adjust and it has nice padding to protect
the beautiful stock.

I guess one could install a brass insert for a removable stud and make it look really nice with a brass cover screw
in brass too that you could put when done but remember that anything you do if you install a bipod block like that, there is
the risk of putting blemishes on nicely finished guns like this. So I would not do it. I don't think it would do
anything to the barrel swivel bluing but it could. not having free float is not the ideal as your POI might change when
you shoot from different positions. I don't think it will be a huge concern for what this gun is originally intended.

Another alternative if you really want to preserve the original stock is to buy an inexpensive stock pre-owned
and then customize it for this type of use. It takes 5 minutes to swap and will preserve the original one. Then you
can have the bipod and add weight and ergonomics preserving the original. You can even have detachable or falling magazine
system although I don't think you are going to go for any long shooting sessions with the 375.

I love old 700s. I have a 73 lefty BDL in 7mm mag. I'm not sure I'd find need for anything bigger, but the thought of a .375H&H mag is intriguing!

Please tell me that board is not from some missing piece of Hillary's electronics!

Actually the 375 with soft points and mild loads is a great all around gun.
The deer don't run much because they are separated the back from the front. lol

time to reload. You can do it in the kitchen table if you don't have other space and keep
all the equipment you need in a small plastic bin.
You will pay for a simple setup to reload with a press for less of the cost of one Dangerous game box of ammo.
Those should be fine. Buy a box of each and try them and see what you get.
PPU is from Serbia and they produce inexpensive ammo. The brass sometimes is good and sometimes not so
good but if you don't try you don't know. They will be always good for milder inexpensive reloads.

The rest you can reload by volume and improvise and still do some decent practice loads.
A basic electronic scale is cheap and because it is a high volume precision is not critical but
you can also reload by volume with a 1/2 grain accuracy that is nothing for this round.
Just wipe the cases clean. Canola oil for lube. Ammo boxes or drilled 2x3 for ammo tray.
A 1ft scrap piece of 2x4 or 2x8 to bolt the press and tree log screws. One cheap clamp or two.
If you have a caliper great otherwise you can use the template method.

To reload 100 cases you will need...

Powder like R15 or Varget . $25.
Magnum primers 100 ........ $4.
Bullets Speer 235gr ..........$39.

total more or less...

one time Reloding Setup $76
100 rounds ...$68 give or take.

this is like $14 per each 20 cost when you are done vs. $50 for virtually the same thing.

Save yourself! Don't let @meketrefe fool you. I started reloading to "save money" too. It just makes you shoot twice as much as you did before and fill your garage with expensive progressive presses. Once you start you can't stop.

I think I may have a couple of boxes of ammo for that monster. I don't know where I got them but I got them sometime ago. And I'll either have to buy a gun or keep them forever.

Let me dig out the box and see if it is for this rifle.

np. with that being said if you start reloading and you have other cartriges in mind perhaps
want to invest a bit more on the press but don't need to spend much to be able to reload.
I think a small light press is something always handy to have around and even if you get into
large presses the little one is great to bring to the range to work on reloads and seating bullets.

I use several presses including progressive but for the magnums and working in wildcats I have a Redding Big Boss II that is bad ass.
It has a larger frame with a 4.5" opening, it has a wider shaft and huge links. Lots of leverage to work in magnums or wilcats (brass forming)
It is designed for that type of work. Since then, RCBS has launched the RCBS summit with a 4.5" opening but I have not tried that one.
In any case those are more expensive and although they are great for magnums they are not 100% needed.
I think everyone needs a smaller press always to take to the rang and the above are much larger and heavier than others.
The lee was an example of something really inexpensive that actually works but if you want to do more calibers and are seriuos might
want to invest in something larger. I always say start with something very simple in case you don't like it. minimum investment.
Don't buy kits with lots of stuff that one might nor might not use. Keep adding things that are practical.
one doesn't even need a tumbler. Sonic cleaning or even just washing the brass for now is a lot better for the reloads, brass and also dies.
the 8mm mauser is a lot of fun to reload and to shoot too! Another bad ass round.
