Recommend me a gun belt

If you have personal experience with one, that's helpful. Tell me pros/cons/cost/etc. I've been looking at a 5.11 Tactical heavy with D-ring and velcro, but haven't pulled the trigger yet.

I'm not cheap, but I'm not gonna spend a bill on a belt.

I'm open to colors except green, I wear mostly cargo pants/shorts, so black/tan/brown work best.

I have the 5.11, not sure which model. It has double stitching and a metal core. It has enough flex in it to wrap comfortably around the waist. Has enough rigidness to hold the weight I put on it. Mid-sized 1911 and a mag carrier. Holds them close to my body, I wear OWB with my shirt over it. I'll post a pic during lunch. I paid 50 bucks for an express belt that my rig chewed up in 3 days, the 5.11 cost me 40 bucks.

I have got the 5.11 also. Great belt. Even holds up my holstered SW 8-3/8" .41 magnum when I go back up in the woods.
Take a look at Gander MTN. I see they have a sale.

@Celt I would wear that to the range, or while camping. Definitely screams "I haz gunz" while wearing it, but I do like the option for a range day.

So far, I like the AG the best, at least from a looks standpoint. I wear a brown leather belt every day, so I could see wearing that and not making anyone suspicious.

Keep in mind, if you dont wear your shirts tucked in you will never see the belt. And you can customize the colors with any combo you want at BCT. I chose that color combo as a personal preference.

Good call, we're pretty lax here. Cargo pants, hiking boots, and polos seem to be the norm. Even the owner doesn't tuck his shirt in

If you're looking for a traditional looking leather belt try Hank's. Have one and it does a great job holding my SR9c iwb.

I actually don't have any other pics at the moment but I will get some and post them up.

If you go to Brown coat tactical website you can view the belt and the options. You can have the heavy duty portion of the belt one color with the strap another like I did with mine. I have a black heavy duty nylon portion of the belt with multicam on the outside. And the Raptor buckles are heavy duty. Also browncoat Tactical belts are very reasonable for the cost.

If you want leather, and do want to go close to $100 go with The Beltman. Be forwarned however, they are very thick compared to other belts - provides LOTS of support. I had to reform the Kydex belt C-clips on my Comp-Tac IWB. Worth it however, excellent construction, bullhide, very attractice, you won't think "GUNBELT" when it's worn Bullhide Gun Belts for Concealed and Open Carry. I went with 1+1/2" wide, black, Celtic weave with a square black mat buckle.

In more "modern" materials, the original Wilderness Instructor training belt (5-stitch lines longitudinally) is great for under $60 Tactical Belts, Duty Belt, Military Belt, Instructor Belt.

No personal experience. But, some big name folks use one and i'm planning to pick one up. Melody Lauer speaks pretty highly of them, and her endorsement is what tipped the scales for me.

Don't forget to check the Wilderness Belts. Some different options to choose from on the site...including how to measure yourself to ensure the correct sizing. I love the Original Instructor's Belt...it just flat out works with the reinforcement and strong velcro with an awesome V-clip buckle. Very comfortable and works well with my StealthgearUSA Black Onyx IWB holster. The Wilderness company also has some cool horizontal mag carriers...something I may take a shot at soon.

I chose a black leather gunbelt, since a black leather belt is what I've worn anyways. Doesn't a canvas belt with the fancy tactical buckle somewhat defeat the purpose of carrying concealed?

This isn't a troll post or anything but I've never used a gun belt ever in almost 10 years of concealed carry. Regular belts from Sears, JC Penney, ect have worked just fine with every IWB holster I've ever used.

I don't see the purpose in them.

Well, I'm glad you did comment on this, jogged my memory. I ended up buying a 5.11 Tactical Trainer belt. Metal buckle/d ring with velcro backup, 1-1/2" wide. I can actually notice the difference in the stiffness of it, more rigid and less floppy. My leather belt wasn't as stiff before.

Had a 20% sale at F&S, got it for $30, so I can't argue with that.

I wear the 5.11 tactical 1.5" trainer belts when I wear 5.11 Strike Pants! I have 6 of them in all different colors, to go with the pants. I carry a holstered firearm every day on them........they work great!

I'm not too happy with my 5.11 belt. The coloring is ripping off and i feel it sags pretty good. I wear a fun that's 17 ounces and is pretty small. So for it to sag with that I'm not too happy. I think mine has either plastic or steel core too
