Refinished gun stock

So this one means a bit to me. My daughter is turning 5 this month, I got her brother his first rifle for his 5th birthday and she really enjoyed shooting it when I took her out one day.....a few weeks back I got a deal on an old beat up Remington 514. The stock was rough. I put some time, elbow grease, and a lot of sand paper into it. I gave it my first attempt at wood burning on a gun stock, stained, and waxed it.



Chris Cagle sings a song "dance baby dance", I've sang her it since she was a baby and she loves the song and will sing it to me. I thought this will make a good first rifle for her....now some metal work and it'll be set.

nice looking job .. just wondering why you waxed it and not Tru-Oil it .. I know its a long process .. ?

Thanks all.....I like wax on stocks like this one where I know it will catch a ding and scratch. It's easy to lightly sand it out and rewax the spot. Sometimes another coat of wax even hides the mark.
