Removal and prevention of mold/mildew on leather

came across a few leather holsters and rifle slings that had white mold on them, what's the best way to salvage these items. Would like to remove/kill mold and prevent it from coming back. Any info appreciated.

I had some similar gunk on some holsters. I used Ballistol to clean it and it hasn't come back yet.

Lycra and Spandex are far more breathable.

if you can find it, UV light will do a masterful job. But DON'T expose yourself to it.

Cedar closet or cedar chest will prevent mold from forming, not sure if it will help when mold is already formed. Maybe.

I had some similar gunk on some holsters. I used Ballistol to clean it and it hasn't come back yet.

if you can find it, UV light will do a masterful job. But DON'T expose yourself to it.

And don't use UV lights as night club lights.

White vinegar works, Ballistol works, UV works, but it will come back unless kept in a relatively dry environment.

1. use White vinegar -apply with a spray bottle in daylight (uv rays) to get rid of mold. (allow time to dry)
2. clean off with saddle soap (allow time to dry)
3. apply leather conditioner (preserves leather)
It's best to do this outside where there is plenty of daylight/UV rays.

Agree with above I've used white vinegar on leather with mold before and it seemed to do a good job. May need to apply two or more times. As for conditioner I highly recommend Obenaufs really good stuff. Recommended to me by a member here I think it could be best leather conditioner on market. Also contains propolis...
