TWO SHOT BY DRUG ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS EXECUTING WARRANT

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — An 18- and 21-year-old were shot by law enforcement as drug enforcement officers executed a search warrant on Rochester's northeast side, centered around a location near North Goodman Street.
It was part of a drug bust at six different locations, where a total of $600,000-plus in cash was recovered, as well as more than two kilograms of cocaine and an array of weapons. A total of eight people were arrested.
A shot rang out around 11:30 a.m. on Burbank Street, stated the Rochester Police Department, and five police officers from four different law enforcement agencies, including Rochester and Greece police, the Monroe County Sheriff's Office and U.S. Border Patrol, returned fire. None of the officers, who police said were all in uniform, were hit.
Obed Torres, accused of firing the first shot, was initially listed in serious condition at the hospital. Rochester Police said the 18-year-old who was shot is expected to recover from his injuries.
The U.S. Attorney said that Torres, Jose Justiliano-Rodriguez and Jashua Figueroa were all in a black sedan parked in a driveway on Burbank Street, and Torres fired as the uniformed officers approached. The officers returned fire.
The U.S. Attorney said the drugs seized were mailed from Puerto Rico. Police said the warrant was part of a long-term cocaine investigation by GRANET, the Greater Rochester Area Narcotics Enforcement Team.
