@Podmonkey clued me in on 9holes and honestly I think I've finally watched every video they have published and it's one of the handful of channels I actually get excited when I get a notification of a new video
The prototype mentioned, the one that went the route of an upper and lower receiver, had they developed that one it would have made a very good rilfe for sure. It would have addressed every stated need and avoided all of the AK12's deficiencies.
Now it is not uncommon for a military to adopt a new infantry rilfe and then drop it quickly for something else. The obvious solution here, as stated by Henry in the video, would be to re-adopt the AK-74M modified to the same configuration as the Spetznaz rifles. I wouldn't be at all surprised if this came to pass.
Lol, Russians trying to copy the Polish Tantal/ Beryl.
Aside from all its shortcomings. That selector is the stupidest. The selector stop plate has two functions on an AKM, provides the rigid base for magazine lock up and provides the stop for the selector lever. They forgot the latter function and maybe the former? Love the welded gas tube too. Especially when shooting 7n6 lol!
