Sad day cop shot in my hometown.

I live in a small safe town of about 4 square miles. We have a small police force and they are all good guys. I know a lot of the guys on the force since my dad was on the force for years. This will shake this police force to the core.
I hope this cop makes it through, they catch the bastard, and the other cops can hang in there and do their jobs successfully and safely.

Me too. Sounds like they responded to a shot fired call where this guy shot someone. There’s a small park right there so I’m assuming maybe they were in the park.

Hard to see from the photos but looks to be an AR platform with a 30 round mag.

Article says he was wearing a bullet proof vest so just praying that those stopped or slowed down the rounds. The guy down the street from me is a cop and the guy around the corner is too.

It’s just sad that a cop was shot less than a mile from my house. That’s very close to home. You see this crap on TV and it’s sad but it’s worse when it’s this close to home and you likely know the cop and or the family.

Lots of young guys on the force that have been there less than 10 years. I know they have been working crazy schedules to keep their distance because the corona virus. They have been working one week of 7 12 hours shifts then off one week. Not bad to be off the week but a week of midnights after a normal life is tough.

I’m glad they caught the guy. More to follow when I know more. I just hope it’s not the guy down the street with two young kids and a young wife.

It will be a tough week for the guys one the force. As stated it’s a small force of I think 26 guys and one gal.

From the article it appears he shot someone then ran into the house. There was a brief stand off and he ran out of the house. Likely jumped out a window since we only have 2-3 cops on at a time. He jumped in his car and was able to drive a short distance until he was rammed and stopped. Sounds like that’s when he ditched the guys And like he made it about a quarter mile or so by where the two scenes were described in another article.

Of course there is a healthy dose of speculation in my post hence the sounds likes.

Yes but different department. GOPerfect was not the guy shot as far as I know since it was a COT officer. I think GP is a county sheriff.
Word I’m getting is cop is fine or will be fine and thank GOD for bulletproof vests. Another officer in the hospital with other injuries but should be fine as well.

Not sure on the name yet but there is only one guy that I know of that meets this description and he is a husband and father of three wonderful kids. Sounds like the bulletproof vest took the brunt of it but may have been shot in leg and arm from this article. Just a guess on locations since he said shot 4 times and lower and upper extremities were effected.

Sounds like he shot through a wall and that slowed the rounds down then the cop was hit from the article. It’s states suspect fired through wall.

I suppose if the rounds went through a wall and lost velocity and if they were tumbling or already fragmenting a level 3 soft vest may have stopped it.

Well lately it's because we are worried about the prisoners safety so we let them out of prison early because we didn't want them to get coronavirus.


Or at least that's what they tell us. Grrrr


I can only hope this is one such example of another Cuomo policy being a disaster because if so it will have to be the end of his tyrannical reign.

They let them out because they want more crime.

More crime means more excuses to increase government power.

If they actually locked up real criminals and kept them there crime would plummet. Then people would demand their freedom back.

Sounds like 2 in vest and two in lower torso that penetrated. Sounds like he will be fine.

From what I gathered they were investigating the shooting that happens a few hours earlier and he returned to the screen/his home and when questioned he ran inside and started shooting. Sounds like through walls of the home.

I’ll find out more as time goes on.
